Been a while since I last posted, in that span I got my speakers, and the dev is almost done (just cleanup and little things), so I thought I'd share some pics! At the bottom of the stairs (there's a bedroom behind but who cares about that): Bathroom: Looking back at the hallway (one of my surrounds there): Towards the bar area (light installed, bar coming later): Towards the front: The nook:

And the rest: The front where the screen will be: The front again:

That is going to be one nice setup man. Are you planning on any throw rugs or anything to help tame reflections? Randy

Lovely room. I, too, think the alternately colored, angled, tray ceiling is very handsome.

Very nice. Do you have your blinds picked out yet? In not, Levelor has some great black out blinds.

very very nice room man! I like the natural light, if I could change one thing in my room, I would actually prefer to have a walkout, so that I can darken the room when I want, and when I want to listen to music, I can open the windows... You won't be dissapointed with the Z5 . By the way, you should check out soundsaround or visions on saturday, the Toshiba HD-A2 is on sale for $188 CAD (with 3 movies). Unless you already got one. Its only for the calgary area. I am finally plunging into the HD era, I can't wait!

Yeah, definitely going to have a big rug in there, and might have to do something to the back wall but so far it hasn't been as active as I was expecting.

Not yet, that was one of the things I was going to be researching soon, thanks for the suggestion I'll look into that!

Heh, actually I was there yesterday trying to get that price (or close to it) early. He said last year it was only the people that camped out the night before that got the best stuff. That's an awesome price, but I refuse to camp out to get it!
Yeah I love the walkout, and it's south facing so it gets amazing sun. I can't even see the projector image during the day.

Very nice. One comment, make sure that you angle your center channel down towards the listening area. It will make a big difference. I had my VP150 above my screen, and the angle impacted the level of sound clarity and volume. I now have mine below the screen and like it even more. maybe you will just need to do dual centers...

Yeah the centre is aimed at the approximate area, will re-aim when I get the furniture in and know exactly where it is. And I did wire in for dual centres (at the advice of the good folks here), the other wire is inside the wall so I can pull it out if necessary. I also wired in for a second set of speakers above the mains (ceiling level), as well as 2 rear mounts if I ever want to go to a 7.1 system.

Fantastic room! Every time I see a nice room like that it make me start thinking about remodeling parts of my home.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

Thats a good option to have, especially with a projection screen...I know that I love my dual centres putting the dialog right in the middle of the screen...

Very nice room and I love the natural light and ceiling. Have you listened to your system yet and if so, what are your impressions?

Have done a bit of listening, but haven't had a chance to balance anything yet. The centre and surrounds are way loud compared to the mains so I have some adjusting to do on my receiver. And I have a single line coming out for my sub from my receiver, but no single input on the sub itself (left and right RCA or mains), so I have to check the sub manual to find out if I can use a single input on the sub (since I probably want my receiver managing that rather than using the sub's cutoffs).
Still it sounds pretty darn good, I'm scared to crank up the sub too much though yet. My wife says she can hear it two floors up!

Yeah, my wife hated the SVS when it came in. Now it is located in a less obvious location in my theater so it isn't so bad.

Heh, yeah I told my wife that it's a home theatre so there's going to be some speakers around. She wants to lay it horizontally on the floor across the bottom of the screen, but I don't think that would work very well...

If you don't like the SVS, it sounds like the wife would sign off on a horizontally configured EP600 .

Hey, I managed to pricematch that HD2A HD-DVD player at Future Shop Macleod with the Vision's flyer today! (I'm temporalillusion over on Red Flag Deals).
Hooked it up to the projector, and wow does it ever look amazing! Even on a brown wall!

Lol, I think the extra $$ and hassle would kill that deal.

I love the ceiling shape. We did something similar in our media room and i believe it really helps take away the sound issues of straight, rectangular areas. Ironically, our room almost works out to the golden ratio dimensions.
