I would like to see some pictures of QS8s that are painted to match the walls in people's living rooms. I need to show my wife what it would look like. thanks!

They also have custom colors to match your trim work and other decor if you don't want to be paint matched.

so the whole speaker even the grille will be painted to match your wall?

so the FMS QS stands are 38" tall by themselves? how far do they need to be from the side walls? anybody have any pics of them in your houses? if my front 3 speakers are definitive technology should i go w/ def tech bipolar surrounds or should I go with these QS8s? thanks!

The QS speakers need to have at least 4" of clearance on the top and bottom to allow room for the drivers (that is what brent from axiom told me). I am not sure of side clearance.

I think you can get a custom stand height, but there is a maximium and that may be it. Do you already own the def tech speakers? which ones do you have/will be purchasing?

Also, I personally would not have the QS8's painted the color of the wall if they are going to be on stands. A painted speaker on a black stand would look funny IMO. If you get them painted I would put them on the wall.

bp 7002 mains (i've heard good things, its only 7 inches wide and perfect height for where its going...the top of it will fit just below the edge of the mantle) and as small of a center as i can get that still will work well, maybe a procenter 2000.

the axiom floor standing speakers are a little wider than what I want for where they are going (in a fairly narrow space between the mantle and windows).

if i get the qs8s w/ stands I'll get black or wood to match the floor.

one of my surrounds won't have a back wall to bounce sound off.

The QS'8s are very forgiving with placement.

See the pics in this thread:

I have one QS8's against a brick wall, and one next to an opening to my kitchen. I have not noticed any weird surround effects due to one having a wall to bounce off of and not the other.

you don't need a back wall, 3 of my 4 qs8's have no wall behind them.

The QS surrounds don't really bounce off the wall; they just kinda radiate out in all directions except the back (which makes them a pain to pick up 'cause there's SPEAKERS everywhere ;)).

My QS8s are both on stands. At the old house one was on the wall and one was on a stand (actually on a couple of soup cans on top of two stacked end tables). Worked fine although it looked a bit tacky.

Mine are currently put on an additionnal 2 feet stool. It gives me a better soundfield for SACDs, but for HT it is better when the stands are on the floor directly.
