I'd have to say, my purchase of the original Avia disk was huge in terms of helping me adjust my TV properly. Also, it was very beneficial in explaining what all the different settings do, and how setting them wrong could be harmful to the display. I hope this new disk is equally excellent in helping understand the ins and outs of HD technology.
Randy, let us know what you think.

I'm hoping it will help provide a better picture of my 720p projector as well as with audio/sub setup.

for those of you that have used the original Avia setup DVD, I've got a question.
With the DVD's your able to adjust your picture for optimal performance. As you know most DVD players AND TV's have contrast, brightness, etc... settings. Which are you to adjust when using Avia, the TV or the DVD player?
In my situation I'm using a HTPC DVD software that also has adjustment settings for the NVIDIA card and my Sanyo projector has settings. So are you supposed to just adjust the TV or projector, or the source as well?

I personally would adjust the display, most sources dont actually have these sort of adjustments, Perhaps a few more modern models but whats originally intended is that you adjust the display. Also keep in mind that once you have your settings for a calibrated display, If your tv allows for different settings for differnt inputs you can set them all to the correct settings. While sources will differ on what display settings will be correct for calibration, at least you'll be in the ballpark.

That's actually news to me. Is this the case only with HDMI-capable players?

Yes, adjust the settings at the display overall. If you have 2 sources that are way out agreement, then make additional settings on the source if needed. It just depends on your setup and the number of video sources you need to accomodate.

My HDMI Panasonic S97S upconverting DVD player has many settings, just like a TV, as does my DVD player software TheaterTek that I use for my HTPC. The Nvidia card 6600GT has many settings also. It is just confusing as everything in the chain affects the picture.
My findings with other calibration DVD's, THX on movie DVDs, etc. is that I don't see much difference when adjusting contrast and sharpness when using my projector. Hopefully it will be different with this new DVD.
