when your speakers are delivered do they just drop them on your front porch? It will still be a little while before funds allow me to purchase my axioms but I was trying to figure out how the whole delivery system works.

If you are not home they usually just leave them. Axiom uses UPS and Fed EX for U.S destinations, if I remember right.

Basically, yes, that's all that's required. For very heavy boxes you might make an arrangement with the delivery man for further help in getting them inside.

The DHL guy always took them around to the back porch. I wasn't expecting that the first time, and I thought someone had stolen them for a couple minutes. Ha ha. DHL delivered all except the last time, with the A1400-8. I don't know if Axiom got too many complaints about DHL, or if it was just inexplicably FedEx for this last time, but anyway, FedEx left it on my front porch, ALBEIT on a part of the porch that had tall plants in front of it.
I knew I wasn't going to be home for the delivery of the A1400-8, so I called the main FedEx number asking if there was something I could do to ensure I'd get it. The service agent couldn't reroute the package to my work, but he suggested I write a note to leave on the door, permitting the driver to leave the package, signed and dated. Also, specify where the driver can leave it. However, I specified my back porch, and, as I mentioned, it was on my front porch. But yeah, you should be able to control where it ends up at your residence.

My first ones were FedEx, which was fantastic. I had them delivered to my office, though. My second ones were DHL; my wife was home at the time and the guy helped bring them inside. Of course, she was also 5 months pregnant at the time.

If you are not home they usually just leave them. I'm surprised that they would leave the goods unattended.

If the packages are "Signature Required" items, then they're not supposed to leave them, but if you've ever signed the waiver, they can leave them. However, I've heard about people never having signed that having them left anyway.

They're not supposed to leave them unattended, unless you have specifically pre-authorized that or left a signed note for the driver. Normally if you aren't home they would be held for pickup...
... or at least that's what happens in Canada.

Well, in the US, they keep your signature on file FOREVER. You only need to sign once, and they take it as permanent permission. Or that's my experience, anyway, at least with UPS. I can't vouch for the other couriers, since I don't get stuff through them nearly as often.

Purolator requires a signature whether it be in a note as CV left or from someone in the home, but there must be a signature otherwise the package must be specified SNR, Signature Not Required, for it to be left without someone signing for it.

Axiom used to use FedEx, but changed to DHL in the US about a year ago, they don't use UPS or FedEx anymore, unless they have changed again recently.
UPS will leave them on your step, FedEx won't, and I believe DHL will also.

Thanks for all of the input. Delivery to my office would not be an option.
I think I will either
a: try to have them require a signature, and if I am not home arrange for pick up at the delivery center.
b: be home.
c: both of my neighbors are retired so I could have them deliver the items to one of them. The lady next door must be close to 75 years old, so I doubt she would be able to lug an ep500 or m80/m60 (still deciding) into her garage!

UPS will leave them on your step, FedEx won't, and I believe DHL will also. FedEx will leave packages at your door if you go to the local station prior and sign a waiver for them to do so, everything I get from FedEx is now left at our front door.

DHL delivered mine and offered to haul or help haul the boxes into the house. Might've had something to do with the fact that the truck was almost empty and it was only noon though.

Will do Robb. I guess I'll need to pick you up at the airport, or will you be driving the 2,912 miles from Calgary to Vero?

mine are being handled by purolator. in fact as i type they're probably on a truck or train approaching Belleville! in about 12 hours i'm hopping to hear my doorbell go ding dong! will i be happy i spent 2 thousand dollars? will i easily be able to find the defects on my outlet speakers? i'm really hoping these speakers will be a sound revelation the way my Shure earphones were when i first heard them.

If you had Bose before, they will be. I continue to be amazed with my 80s.

Uhmmm...I think Bose is to Kenwood HTIB as Mercedes is to a Skoda. I don't want to pump up your expectations too much. You will hear somewhat of an improvement with the Axioms .

I had some Polk bookshelves before the Axioms. My initial reaction was that they were not a revelation, but as I listened to more and more material, I realized that I really had been missing a good deal of the sound. I imagine a difference will be readily apparent if you're moving up from an HTIB, but if it doesn't blow you away right off, give it some time and throw a wide range of material at the Axioms.

You have the 80s, right? You really need to A/B the Polks with your Axioms. Then tell me if they are a revelation or not.

From a small Sony Satellite HTIB to my M60s, EP500 & QS8s was a revelation and I can even define it. Biggest thing for me was that I learned to appreciate a lot of music I normally would never have listened to. I call that a revelation of sorts.

Montreal is an island, BTW! Sorry about your delays. Didn't you receive a tracking number from Noreen? (I assume they shipped via Purolator).

Yeah, Purolator, but the tracking number I was given gives me a multiple shipments found msg followed by a no shipments found msg when I try to narrow it down. I emailed Noreen hoping it was a typo or that I was on the wrong page or something stupidly trivial.
I guess it's all really just another example of the East screwing the West once again!

Patience is a virtue and good things come in small packages. Mojo's EP400 should have been delivered Friday and he didn't get it till today. Your M3s should have been there Monday so if all goes well you should get them tomorrow or Thursday. Does that help?

Picked up my speakers yesterday. Wouldn't recommend trying to set up and critically listen to new toys at the end of October. I'd never have thought that a product like Axiom would have an annoying ding-dong sound every five minutes.
Anyway, one speaker was damaged en route so I'll have to wait just that much longer for a new one. At least I can still listen in 1.1 mode!
