It's certainly the way to go if you have the room and a setup that permits it. When I did a slew of center-channel testing, it was one of the configurations I preferred.

The horizontal centers on a stand in front of the display also tended to sound a bit more open and natural than placed on the TV or beneath it. The room and its multiple reflections and or absorbancy play into this formula so you can't absolutely state that one center-channel setup will consistently work better than another.

Would this also apply if the 150 is wall-mounted on an FMS below a flat screen like mine?

I still say you need to get rid of that stand and put in the M60 beside a vertical AV rack.

Yeah, I made a mistake not putting a 19" rack under my stairs. I lost out to my wife on that one.
