I should be getting my new m80's by next Monday and I'm slowly thinking about setup. I was just wondering if you guys were setting your m80's to Large or Small in your HT? I also have the option of sending LFE to both Mains & Sub (PC13-U) and was wondering if I should let the beast take it or share it with the m80?

I keep the 80's on small and let the sub handle the work. Try it both ways and see what you prefer.

Try both settings and see which you like best. Most will probably say set the M80s to small and let the sub do all the dirty work. This'll also take some extra stress off your receiver. Yeah, what Michael said. he types quicker.

I use small for HT, large for music.

I pretty much always leave it on small for my 80's and 80hz crossover. I've experimented with different crossover settings and setting the 80's to large, but I don't hear that much difference.
Even at small the 80's still go very low because of the slope, it does not just cut off at 80hz.

Until I put my hands back on an SPL meter and fine tuned the calibration of my EP-500, I was frequently toying by those settings when playing music. But since I got the merge perfect, I don't touch the 80hz cross-over.
Cello and organ (to name only two) can play as low as they can (even glissendi of contemporary music) and I cannot hear a transition (and my sub in behind my couch). So, my two cents are, if you have a musical-enough sub (I don't know your brand), just make sure you use a calibration disk (ex: Avia) to verify/set that the blend of the transition from all your speakers with the sub is as seamless as possible and you'll be home free.

Alex,
I set the 80s to small. On my Denon I have "direct" and "stereo" modes. Direct by-passes all filters while stereo preserves the cross-over and allows you to tweak bass & treble. On direct, the bass is sent to the 80s and the sub regardless of whether the 80s are set to small/large. On stereo, the bass is sent to the sub only. Like others have said, try both ways and see what you like.

I just have to be different…..mine are set to large with LFE going to the sub and mains.
If I could set my X over differently, I’d have set them to small and at 60 with the rest of my speakers set to 100. But seeing how I’m stuck with a global X over setting, I have the mains at large and the X over set to 100.

Yeeeccchhh! I tried the M80s set to large(usually set to small) last night during my movie, hmm now I wonder if that had anything to do with my sub not waking up often enough. I guess theoretically it shouldn't as LFE still should be the cause for the sub to wake up but you never really know how things work until you try them differently, but ketchup on mashed potatos, come on, ranch salad dressing is where it's at!
