Hello everyone this is my first post on the axiom board, and I am posting here because I am a new axiom owner.I will start by saying I am new to the audio/home entertainment scene and know very little about the subject however I am looking forward to learning.
The speakers I purchased are the M2v2's, and the VP100, I am using them for a HT in my bedroom, which is roughly 20x20. The speaker are in the process of being shipped and I would like some advice on which receivers will work well with what I have purchased.I would to keep the receiver under the 500$ price mark if possible, and I am also planning to expand to a 5.1 setup in the future.
Thanks in advance for any advice.
Terry

Terry welcome, any of your big name receivers will work well with your system,(Denon, Onkyo, Yamaha, HK) just to name a few. Pick one at the best price point with the features you want for now and in the future and you should have a great sounding setup.

Welcome, Terry.
Gosh, you have a big bedroom!
My recommendation would be to look at the online manuals for receivers in your price range from major manufacturers (Denon, Yamaha, HK, Onkyo, etc.). Look more for features and ease of use than at specs. I don't personally subscribe to the school of thought that receivers at that price range with your equipment at normal listening levels would SOUND different. You might also check out (in person) the remote controls.
You didn't mention your display or sources; each could be an issue relative to the inputs and outputs necessary in your receiver.
With M2's, you will want to seriously consider getting a subwoofer of some kind sooner rather than later.
I'm a happy VP100 owner, and I hope you will enjoy your Axioms.

Thanks for the quick response to my post. I'm not sure if the board has any rules about posting links but I have a panasonic TH-42PX75 the site mentions which inputs it has. I was looking at buying this receiver )Yamaha 5.1 Channel Receiver (HTR6040B))I noticed that it says it has no digital outputs As for sources I would probally just use my xbox, and dvd player.

You don't need digital outputs from the receiver only digital in. Something you might want to consider would be a receiver that has analog inputs and outputs for all 6.1 or 7.1 channels, this would allow you to use the receiver as a preamp and then add a seperate power amplifier later if you so desired, but this is now getting into a whole other post. The HTR6040 will work very nicely if it suits your needs.

I had the same budget ($500) for a receiver and ended up deciding on the Yamaha RX-V661. I haven't received my speakers or the receiver yet, but from all the research this is the one that appealed to me the most and I feel confident in my decision. Here is the owners thread from avsforums which was extremely helpful in my research. http://www.avsforum.com/avs-vb/showthread.php?t=822161I was also considering the HK AVR-247 and the new Onkyo (605 or 604, can't remember which). After reading through all 3 owners threads at avsforum I had a better feel of thier real world performance with all levels of user experience.

Terry, welcome. The first point that I'll mention is that rather than getting a center speaker immediately, the M2s could serve at least temporarily to form a "phantom" center. Your budget at this point might be better spent on a bargain sub such as the Hsu STF-1(little over $250)or surrounds such as the QS4s. Your speakers don't have any unusual power requirements and many of the reasonably-priced receivers available would do just fine. The 6040(around $250-$300)should certainly serve you well. However , let me suggest a more full-featured unit for just a little more: the factory refurbished Onkyo 605 is available at Shop Onkyo for $349 if you register for "Club Onkyo", plus you receive a $10 credit and free shipping, so it's $339 delivered.

Enjoy the music, not the equipment.

Hi again everyone, thanks for all the helpfull responses. John, the Center is already on order so for now i'll make due untill I pick up a sub.
As for the Onkyo reciever it looks great, I am in Canada though so i'll have to see if they have a canadian store, wouldnt want to get too hard with duty, taxes, shipping.
Turns out the only ship to the US anyway :S

I had the 661 for a while. It's a great little unit and under five hundred. I wrote up a mini review on it a while back and posted it somewhere. If you search, you should be able to find it.
