These speakers are amazing!! A step up from my previous speakers which were Paradigm Monitor 9's V-1's, and V-2's(still currently using mind you because they are also great speakers). I've only played one CD multiple times because I know it like the back of my hand. It's a Dave Matthews band CD. The only thing I find slightly askew with the M80s is that the solo violin especially at the beginning of some songs don't sound very clear. Playback is solely coming from the tweeter's, being very high. Has anyone else experienced this from any other Dave Matthews band CDs? Any suggestions? As I have not tried out any other CDs, it's quite possible that it's just a poor recording. I don't know of any good "test CDs" for speakers for the highs/lows etc. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks

Try out some other CDs... I'd recommend Buena Vista Social Club, anything by Allison Kraus (sp?), later Sting albums (but not Sacred Love), anything by Bela Fleck (especially Perpetual Motion).

Which DMB CD is it? If it is Everyday or later, it will sound pretty good.

Even though I think that all his earlier CD's are amazing (before he switched producers for Everyday), his earlier stuff doesn't sound as good on my M22s are his later CDs (Everyday and Busted Stuff sound awesome on my M22s).

Before these crowded Streets and Crash sound "so so". I was slightly disappointed with the recording quality of those albums when I first got my speakers, the 22's (and 80s) are so brutally honest that if the recording sucks just a little, you can tell.

This CD is Everyday, and the song is Angel, and it's not the violin (my bad), it's the saxophone that sounds slightly distorted. Right at the beginning of the song.

I know my computer is not a good comparison, but I do have a high-quality sound card in it and I get the same distortion at the beginning of the song when the saxophone is playing through my 7.1 Dolby Digital surround sound headset

Probably the way it's mastered, then.
