Will there be damage to the M60 is the binding post jumpers are not attached and the speakers are connected to either the speakers from a friend who didn't tell us there is a jumper to connect both binding sets so we just connected the top pair. Of course, the sound wasn't great (the lower frequencies weren't there. It sounded as if the lower 2 woofers weren't driven at all. Just curious to know if any damage could have been done. Thanks

Hammer I seriously doubt that you did any damage. By not having the binding post in place basically, well, in reality you disconnected the woofers. Are you saying somebody took the binding post off and can you get them back in place?

just to clarify.. I am referring to those gold-plated angled pieces of metal that connect the upper and lower sets of binding posts. They were not there when we got the speakers. So I didn't know what to do and hooked the speakers to the upper binding posts.

Yup, Rick was on track with you.
These speakers were made so that you can bi-wire from your AMP or you can bi-Amp which means that you have a separate amp running the upper drivers and a separate amp running the woofer(s).
Bi-wiring is pretty much useless and bi-amping is usually done wrong thus also rendered useless. I wouldn't worry about either if I were you.
You will need to get the binding posts connected again though. Otherwise, you are only sending power to your upper drivers, as you have already discovered.
Axiom, I would think, would be happy to ship you some replacements but in the mean time, just cut yourself a short junk of appropriate gauge speaker wire and bridge the uppers with the lowers again. Sounds like you may already have done so.
Using short lengths of speaker wire is probably fine for a long term solution actually, the proper flat connectors just look more pleasing and you don't have to try and squish two sets of thick wires ont the same posts.
With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Wow, re-reading my reply really didn't really make very much sense, my morning dose of Diet Dr Pepper must not have kicked in yet. Thanks for the clarification Andrew!

We did find the connectors (eventually) for the upper and lower binding posts -- and then properly hooked the speakers up. The sound seems fine with all drivers running -- but is there a way to know if any damage had been done -- it would obvious -- right?

I seriously doubt any damage has been done. As far as I know, even if you're just running one set of the drivers, they're still a 4 ohm load.
Think about it this way: if you were bi-amping, that one set of drivers would be presenting the same load to one of the amps. The speaker has no way of knowing you have 2 amps hooked up.

You did no damage. Don't worry.

I ran my M60s with out binding straps just to see how they sounded compared to the M22s, Don't worry no damage will be done.

Thanks. I don't feel so guilty now for my haste to connect the speakers.
