lame, Surround input accepts only analog signal from external decoder, such as Denon DVD 1920 in my case.Where's the DIY receiver that decodes DTS HD and Dolby True HD via hdmi? seriously though, a DIY preamp is a pretty cool idea... however, I think a preamp should be feature rich, and this one is not. If you don't care about any of those extra features then this would be a great idea if you had the skill

Sounds pretty cool and I think would very work well in a 2 channel setup or for the HD formats as the players do the decoding right now for most people with out new receivers.
