I need some help deciding between the EP500 and the EP600. Is the EP600 really worth the extra $500 and please no answer like 2 db more because going from 120db to 122db is not worth the extra $500, is there a difference between the two in the sound quality of the bass? Are the two drivers identical and is the Amp on the EP600 just a max out version of the EP500? Is there someone out there that actually heard the 2 Sub side by side and is ready to say that there is a distinct difference?

My system right now is 2 M80 V2, 1 VP150 V2, 4 QS8 V2 ,1 handmade horn loaded sub with a 15 inches Tempest driver running at 4 ohm with one of the channel of one of the GFA555 (325 Watts RMS) 2 Adcom Amp GFA555, 2 Adcom Amp GFA 535, Outlaw 970 Preamp, Optoma HD projector, my room is 14x26x7. Thank you in advance for the help ...

When I was at Axiom (my first time) I got to hang out in their demo room with M80's, M50's, EP500 & EP600 all on a switch box. We played around a lot and to me there was a definite difference between the 2 subs. If it were me and I had the money I would be hard pressed not to go with the 600.

On a side note, since then, there really has been a push to going with multiple subs. So now, I would be more tempted to go with 2 EP500's or 4 EP350's...all depending on room/environment.

I've owned both, and even an old 350 when it was king of the hill. They are very similar, just look at the specs and graphs. My room is pushing 8,000 cubic ft. Believe it or not the 350v1 was very respectable. The 500 was a dramatic improvement over the 350. Likewise, there was some improvement going to the 600, but I would say not as much as from the 350 to 500.

The larger case, bigger amp, allows for YES a few more dB in-room, as well as a bit lower response. If your room is small to moderate size I would not discount the 500.

Another thing, make sure you consider the size of the 600. I have the horizontal version and it is much harder to place (takes up a lot of room). The vertical version might be easier, but it still is huge.

Yes, those two subs have the same sound quality. The main difference is output and extension. About the only times you would hear a difference is if you are playing some deep tracks very loudly. That's important in some intense movies like WoTW, Pulse, Fo TP.

The drivers are identical. Yes the EP600 amp is a maxed out version. Yes I have tested them extensively. The 600 is the better performing sub because of its larger enclosure and bigger amp, but whether its worth the price difference is a question that depends on your circumstances and objectives.
