I think you can get the 2308 for about 650ish the 2308 for 800ish, and the 3808 for $1098 from 6ave.com. (as I mentioned you must call to get the price.)
These are below the MSRP prices by quite a bit.
If sticking around the same budget as the receivers you mentioned I would seriously consider the 2308... unless of course you want to spend more; then get a higher model.

Make your decision based on which reciever has the most features which you want at your price point. I would also recommend (to OP) to check out the "official" threads for the products at AVS. It's worth reading through them to see what problems are lurking. Besides 6thAve, I would also ask for a quote from AVS (tell them you are a forum member/it's free to join afterall)
