Stand By Me is definitely one of my all time favorites...it probably makes me nostalgic because I was in a group of 4 just like that and we all lost touch...

I think it has more to do with dogs being simple, loving creatures. They're almost like children. Most adult humans have it coming. \:\)

Forgot to mention, I watched "The Mist" on the weekend. I actually enjoyed it quiet a bit. You're right Mo, if you go in with expectations of an old fashioned, hack and slash horror movie, you will be disappointed. Although there are some cheesy looking monsters to satisfy the B movie crowd, not that I'd call this a B movie.

It definitely is best enjoyed if you go in with an interest in human and group dynamics.
That being said, it had it's intense moments, a few jumpy moments a touch of humor and enough SERIOUS LFE to make it a must see for anybody with a good subwoofer. I think the earthquake scene in The Mist, beats the Tripod scene in War of the Worlds. Or maybe I just have things dialed in better now. Also the Pipe Organ effect during the intense ending is enough to make you tense up even if nothing were to happen.

I should rent it to hear what it sounds like on my system. I don't remember the bass being good in the theatre but then again...it was the theatre.

Holy reverberating cow patties Batman. Your local theater must still be using equipment from the 60s. You should definitely rent it and let us know how it sounds at home. There are at least 3 to 4 scenes that should pump some adrenaline into even your EP600. Some stretch out for a good minute or more too. I'm considering buying this one as an EP500 demo disk.

Sweet, added it to my Netflix queue based on this thread, esp the LFE talk. Thanks, guys!

LFE is pretty good at certain times. Acting is sub-par at best... Just a bunch of people sitting in a convenience store for 2 hours..... Def. not my type of movie!

What? The acting was superb. The directing was even better though. Who else but a brilliant director can take a bunch of no-names and build up tension like that. Everything they did appeared so natural. The camera-work was also top notch. Of course you are entitled to your own opinion \:\) .
