So I know my name at Axiom forums is “Axiom M60 owner”. However I still haven’t bought them. I made up my mind to do so, and still doing some last minute research. The only thing that I am missing research is a center channel. Maybe someone can help me with this. Now I wanted to buy the Axiom VP150 V2. However, it is a bit big to fit in my media center cabinet. So second was to obviously go to the VP100 V2. However, it still will not fit as it is too high. Width and dept is fine. So my third option was to go to another manufacture. I found a paradigm that would fit, and went to a local Paradigm dealer. When I was there, the audio specialist was informing me that the CLR (Center, Left, Right) should really all be from the same manufacture as they would have the same tweeter, woofer, etc… So finally my questions.

1) How truthful is this guy?

2) If he is speaking the truth, how bad is to go a different company for the center?

3) Maybe I can stick with Axiom if anyone has found a way to mount a center speaker above the Plasma? I have a Samsung 5084 by the way.

Any help is much appreciated!!!

The Audio guy was speaking the truth, Imo it is one of the most important rules for good surround sound, the CLR should all be timbre matched. It not as important for the surrounds but Imo critical for the fronts.
For a time I was using the Aperion 533vac as my center channel and to me it sounded real good, I didn't realize how much I had been missing until I replaced it with the VP150, everything panned and blended much better, it was really a whole different experience.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

1) Yes it is the truth.
2) Many people have different brands, but it is best if they are timber/voice matched.
3) I know other have mounted their speakers to a wall, or some type of shelf bracket above/below a plasma tv, I'm sure it can be done.

Paradigms do sound extremely similar to Axioms, I am willing to bet that the difference would be negligible.

Possible the Studio series, maybe. To me the monitors were to laid back and hollow sounding.

M60 Owner, is there any way you could mount a center with a ceiling or wall bracket from inside the media center? Maybe a picture of your situation would help us come up with some ideas.

Another option? as I too have a width issue. How about the W-150? The recessed portion is not near as wide \:\)

The acoustics in this room are terrible. Needs some treatments to get rid of the echo.

First off I would like to thank everyone for their responses. I haven’t had time to come back and check what was posted until now and I already have 2 pages of info. It is easy to tell that Axiom owners, just like the Axiom Company, is a great community to deal with. I will try to get a picture of the media center today when I get home. I also just noticed that there is a slant on top of Axiom center channels. I might be able to slide the VP100 in and just leave a little bit of the center hanging out. However, I will still try to take a picture as you guys might be a little bit creative than me. Again thank you!!

P.S. Is there a big difference in sound from the VP100 to the VP150? Will I be fine with the VP100 and the M60’s.

P.S.S. Good point on my Axiom Forum name. I will see if I can change it as I will probably upgrade to the M80’s in the future, or what ever else Axiom comes out with.

The 100 and 150 are very similar in sound. The 150 seems to work better for much larger rooms, so you should be good either way. The 100 would work with any of Axiom's bookshelf or floorstanding models as they use the same driver brand.

The centers do have a slope to them and reach maximum height near the front, so maybe it would work. It appears the height of both models is 7.5", so I'm guessing near the back your talking around 6" or so without me going downstairs and measuring. \:\)

I have both the VP100 and VP150, as Randy said, you can use either, they are virtually the same. I found the VP150 to play slightly lower(barely) and plays louder easier(6ohm) than the VP100 other than that they are the same.
