I probably wouldn't take a kid to see it. If I had kids I would be one of those dad's that wouldn't let my kid see alot of movies these days.
There are alot of sexual jokes with Tony hitting on women, and one sex scene with Tony (The woman is pantless), it doesn't last long, just them making out and it fades out.
As for the violence...There are gun shooting, explosives, and such in the middle east. There is no brutal violence that I can recall, mostly cool Iron man weapons fighting taking out the baddies. Come to think of it, its not that bad. I don't even recall any swearing.
NOTE: Make sure to stay past the credits.

As much as I hate to say it, I don't think there is that much left that my kids haven't seen on TV or video games. At least if they are with me when they are exposed to something questionable I can explain it to them.
A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I can say this for sure, if you take your <10 year old kids to see Iron man, they will want to BE Iron man after the movie. Expect to be barraged with requests for all things Iron Man.

I thought that the very original trailer for the movie was kind of lame, but that was the VERY first one. Ever since then, I've been liking the idea more and more, and within the last 2 weeks or so, it has moved up there on my "must see" list right next to Indiana Jones and The Dark Knight. There are a lot of other movies I want to see, but will probably wait for DVD since I have to pick and choose what I see due to my busy schedule.

Well, I saw the movie today! I liked it, however Hollywood needs to quit showing SO MANY of the better parts of movies. I knew a lot of what was going to happen just before it happened since I saw SO many different previews for this movie.
If you go see it, be 100% sure to stay until AFTER the credits are done. There is a 20 second clip right at the end. If you check out IMDB you will notice a pretty famous actor listed way at the bottom as "uncredited", yet you don't see him in the movie... You WILL see him in this last 20 second bit...
If you don't want to know who it is or what character he plays, then don't go to IMDB...

I try not to watch ads or previews for movies I'm actually interested in. Even better, I don't read reviews.
I was spoiled on previews after the Men in Black preview. The line in the preview was so much better than the line in the movie (shot with 2 of them with big guns--"What do these things do?" "Haven't a clue.")

Great movie, but I have mixed feelings about the ending.
