If you have a lot of traffic, you'll want to be careful with that scenario. Over time a lot of friction on the cables from people walking on the rug could cause fraying. I'm sure you can get away with it, just be careful of people stomping on your wires under the rug.

Also don't let your house insurance guy see it. He will call it a fire hazard. Yes, you can explain to him it's all low voltage but I doubt you will change his mind.

There won't be a lot of traffic to worry about and my insurance company has not ever been interested in setting foot in my apartment.
I think I'll be ok... if those speakers ever ship that is. (where's the darned impatient face smiley??!)
