I'm sure you can find the best lower frequency response if you are able to experiment on the proper placement of the .1

All you need is to hook it to the Yin Yang Labs equalizer (see my post in Stereo) in a backpack and you're set to go!

Or maybe Yin Yang Labs will come out with a portable helmet version!?

i dont know anything about headphones,but the freq response is 50 -20,000--how would you get the deep bass or base(choose one that suits you)is 50 considered deep on headphones or would you miss a lot of the lfe....thanks...ron

It all depends on how long it takes to break them in....... The first thing I would do is replace the cord......

There sure is a lot of poo pooing going on here. Has anyone actually demoed them? Let's not be hasty. Who wants to be the first to order a pair and report back? I wonder if there is a money back guarantee?

What about the delay and x-over...If the freq response is 50-20,000 maybe we should start at 90-100??? What about the back channel delay?? Should it be the same as your "real" 6.1-7.1 setup...So many choices, I am very confused...

This looks like they took one of those cheap Colby headphones and stuck a bunch of transducers in it and called it surround. There actually are some 5.1 decoding headphone units that are apparently fairly good.

Pioneer Dolby Digital Headphone Unit - and you can even use your own headphones with it, thankfully (the supplied ones look like something out of a cheesy sci-fi movie).

Sony 6.1 Digital Surround Headphone System - Sony has actually had a surround headphone unit out for quite a while now, this is the latest iteration.

Supposedly they both do a pretty darn good job of creating a 3-dimensional soundstage and work well with movies. Sennheiser had a little surround dsp processing unit at one point too. The Pioneer and Sony units are way too expensive for my tastes, but I guess if you NEED your movies at high volume and in surround sound but can't use speakers, you've got some solutions.

Ron, I would consider the 50Hz bass extension VERY BAD for headphones. It is relatively easy to reproduce an accurate bass in an extreme near-field device such as a pair of headphones. Majority of good phones go down well below 20Hz.

I agree with sushi, 50 Hz is horrible for a set of good phones. Most descent ones will go down to 20 Hz.

I don't know if I would trust a CPU cooling company to design good phones either.

Zalman does make some great cooling devices for computers, but surround phones?

Just my $0.02...

I prefer my old HT setup(from college days) of my Yamaha 2090 and Cerwin Vega's all around for my computer. i dislike headphones.

Yea, those just 'suckass' heh.

I'm personally really into headphones (I currently use Sony MDR-V6, and have Sennheiser HD-580's around somewhere and I've used HD-600s and various other Sennheisers) but I don't have a dedicated 'cans camp. I just think that headphones are nice because of the detail that you get, with even mid-range headphones. Yea, the soundstage is just wrong, but if you use crossfeed, or some DSP technology like Dolby Headphone, or a proprietary HRTF you'll be OK. (YEA Yamaha for implementing Head Related Transfer Function when my Denon doesnt have that or Dolby Headphone [although the 5803 that just came out as an update to mine does have DH])

Very nice. I am waiting for the San Diego core personally before I upgrade my aging 2000+ (Palomino) running at 2400+ (1.95 vCore with Swifty MCX-462) and 512 MB Corsair XMS 3500 C2 and a 9800 Pro.
