Just came across this today and thought I would post it knowing how popular this receiver is around here. The seller is the only authorized Denon dealer on eBay. I just might be snatching one of these up myself after purchasing my surrounds and center channel hopefully next week or the week after!! Salivating :). At this price point it can't be beat here in Canada and being refurbished by Denon it's obviously good quality. That being said are there any significant upgrades on the next model that would be worth waiting for and paying the extra cash? Thanks Cam 3808

There is the possibilty of the Reon video processor in the 3809 but only rumors.

Brand new 3808's go for little over $1000, so I don't think $1,000 for a refurb makes much sense.

Unfortunately for us up here it does, although Dakmart is more expensive than e-cost.

audiotronic.ca list it for $1748 cdn.
not to change the subject but for that price I would just get the onkyo sr875 which already uses the reon chip.

The guy I talked to at AudioTronic (who was helpful enough to say Axiom speakers 'suck') offered me a 3808 for $1500.
I still may end up ordering from 6ave, shipping to the UPS store in the states, and driving down to pick it up.
Personally I would like more than $100 off on a refurb.

I suspect that the AudioTronic guy will say that any speakers that he can't sell you for $1000 profit suck.

Kind of funny the guy from AudioTronic said that about Axiom speakers. I've been dealing with them since 98 and they weren't too happy when they saw I switched to Axiom from Paradigm when they where here for a service call :-) I live in Ottawa. He was saying... Give me $4000 and I'll give you a pair of speakers that will blow away the axioms. My response was that it is funny that the Axioms cost about 1/3 the cost. And for 3 times the cost I would expect them to blow them away.

You guys need to make a trip out to Calgary, listed price on the 3808 is $1599 and I picked mine up for $1280+gst.

I have found that shipping via USPS is better than UPS etc. UPS gets expensive because of the tariffs they charge, but I just recently had a Siemens phone delivered from the U. S. via USPS and I wasn't charged any tariffs. Although shipping is slower, it's cheaper. I don't know if it is hit and miss with USPS but I'll definitely be going that route again from now on.

I do that whenever possible, but sometimes it isn't a possibility. For instance, there is a company I have bought some DIY stuff from that only ships FEDEX. They carry some stuff that I can't get elswhere so It is good to have a second option.
