It is not really in the genres that you mentioned, but Green Day's American Idiot is very well-recorded. It was one of the first things I listened to on my M80s.
Bears, beets, Battlestar Galactica.

Thanks for the link doormat, I guess I'll just have to check around as most of what has been suggested here isn't quite what I was thinking. I do REALLY appreciate the comments, and I am definetly going to check out this 'gold' Master Of Puppets recording, yesssss. I'm excited for that. And actually, Green Day's American Idiot WAS very well recorded. I have been a fan since Dookie, and I have drifted from them since 'Nimrod' but I still own every single CD, even the B-side compilation 'Shenanigans.' More out of a sad attempt to remain 15 forever(in my mind), haha. Anyways, I'll ask just for fun. has anyone heard any cd's from; 1. In Flames 2. Children Of Bodom 3. Kalmah 4. Strapping Young Lad 5. All That Remains ?? I'd like to know if any cd's sound good before buying one and being disappointed Anyways, thanks everyone.

I don't listen to much metal, but for rock, I'd say my favorite quality rock recordings which I'm familiar with (and like the music as well) would be:
Nine Inch Nails-The Fragile Yes-Magnification Tool-Lateralus Porcupine Tree-In Absentia, Deadwing, Fear of a Blank Planet plus the remasters of the earlier albums
M60s VP150 QS8s Marantz SR6003 Samsung LN52B550 Oppo DV-980H Insignia NS-WBRDVD
