Montclair's Sorrel Pear

Yeah!!! Montclair’s Sorrel Pear system is finally fully installed. No more wires on the floor, and no more 2X4 speaker stands. I bought the system in 2005, but just as I had everything tested, tuned and ready for final install, my job moved creating 2 years of chaos, before I could complete final installation in the new house.

System still sounds great ‘though I’d love to have an EP600 to thunder the space in the new room. Yes, that’s a tile floor, and we now need to get some carpet to reduce the reflectivity of the room and keep toes from freezing in the winter.

My thanks to the Axiom staff and all the “old hands” on the forum who graciously shared their knowledge.

Congratulations on finalization. That looks like a good room to hang out in.

Good job, Montclair. I like your TV stand. The wood is gorgeous.

Thanks for the compliments. For those interested in the components used to build Montclair's Sorrel Pear system, here is the list of components.

Speakers:
Axiom Sorrel Pear finish with Charcoal grille cloth and Axiom speaker cable
Axiom M22ti on FMS-16 stands
Axiom VP150 on custom built mdf wood stand
Axiom QS8 modified for Omni-mount 20.0 mounts
Rocket UFW-10 (dual)

Equipment:
Sharp LC-37GD4U on Sanus VM200 wall mount
Denon AVR-3805 reciever
Denon DVD-2910 dvd player
Dell Inspiron E1705 PC with Gyration wireless keyboard & remote
Sony Playstation 2
Sony SLV-775HF VCR
Monster Power HTS-3500 power center
Active Thermal Management System 3 cabinet cooling system
Aeros MX-850 universal remote control

Don't ask how long it took to program the MX-850 remote. It took hours and hours before I understood all of the functions for each piece of equipment and got each function programmed and documented on the MX-850 remote. It was worth it, however, because the whole system can now be run from the MX-850 remote. I never use any of the other remotes except for the Gyration remote for the media center PC or the simple remote for TV only functions for parents and visitors.

Nice setup. Is that a custom built stand? I havn't seen anything like it, though I don't hang out in furniture stores these days. Its gorgeous!

The little "feet" under the VP150 were custom built, but the cabinet was purchased. My wife and I spent FAR too many hours in furniture stores and catalogs looking for the right furniture to house all the equipment. Finally stumbled on this Lane Furniture in one of the ump-teen furniture stores we visited. I like it except for the finish which is really soft so it has more dings than it should.

It did need some modifications. I used a hole-saw so the cables would run where I needed them. I also had to relocate and shorten the shelf on the right to make room for the Denon 3805 and cables. I also relocated the CD storage tray from the top center section to make room for the power center. The CD tray was re-installed in the lower left where it now allows the media center laptop computer to slide out when it quits working and needs major software maintenance. I also drilled it for the TV mount.

Totally off topic, but are you changing your posting font on purpose? It looks different than all the other posts (not in a bad way).

He sure did. though it appears they don't come out quite as shown in the font box.

Sounds like you worked very hard to get the unit looking the way it does.
