Okay, after reading some more I constantly hear this "bright" talk when reading on Axioms. I should mention the composition of the family room that houses the TV and soon to be HT. The flooring is Pergo laminate on top of concrete. Room has 2 full walls, 1 glass patio door for a wall, and a 1/2 wall leading into kitchen. The TV is set in an entertaiment wall unit. There is a large leather sofa 10' away from the tv. There are framed phots on all the walls, as well as pressboard bookcases on either side of the wall unit. The room is approx 14x13, with 9'0 ceilings. Anyone with comparable scenarios, has this affected the sound of the M60's / VP150 / QS8's?
Again I will add a sub later, still tossed up between the SVS and HSU. Need to stay around the 550.00 mark with a sub.
Any thoughts on the setup?

You might want to consider a relatively thick area rug in the front part of your room. Regardless of the speaker brand that you eventually get, it will tame some early reflections from the floor that can adversely affect the tonal balance and imaging/soundstaging.

By the way, the other day I saw a very nice lamb fur rugs in my local Costco.

Sorry, forgot to add. yes there is an area rug between the couch and TV/Wall unit. Not thick, but it measures approx 89" x 64"

DAVEY,
I have tried my Axioms in our upstairs living area. Pergo type flooring, painted walls, vinyl starting into the kitchen with a single soft couch and no other real furnishings (we are working on getting some new leather items at this time and do not have any area rugs).
The room provides more echo than our basement but actually gives music more of a 'live' sound. I cannot say that the music sounds brighter upstairs than downstairs but it is different. The furnished and carpeted but concrete basement is just a whole different set of hard walls. The upstairs flooring easily enhances the bass compared to the basement.

Hope that description helps somewhat. If not, send me a PM. I do answer them at least once a week.
