Anyone running the 606 with M50/M60 or M3 bookshelves?
What are your thoughts. MY HT is only 13X11 with 9' ceilings.
Thanks

Do you listen to music or watch movies. The M50 and M3s are more laid back than the M60s, but all would work very well in your room. I do feel a floorstander is better than any bookshelf but that is just me, there are some that swear by bookshelf speakers, right JohnK I would doubt the Onkyo would have much affect to the sound and is very capable of driving any of the speakers you have listed to some very high SPL.

GM, welcome. The 606 or any other similar receiver should be more than adequate in your room with any of the speakers you mention. You should also add the M22s to the speakers that you're considering. They have superb performance(study the SoundStage review and NRC measurements here )except in the very lowest bass, and are adequate for most music(excluding pipe organ)without a sub. Of course, adding a small sub would be desirable, but not essential, for more output in the lowest two octaves.

For movies I would go with the M22s as John suggested, they are great with dialogue and are very clear/clean sounding. I love my M22s and I did not notice much improvement for movies having gone from the M22 to M80 in my HT. I did notice a marked improvement for music.

I had the Onkyo 503 (an earlier version of the 506 only rated at 75 watts x 7 channels) driving my m22's in a room slightly larger than yours and had no problems driving them to high slp cleanly. The 606 should have no problems with any of your choices since you are driving an 8 ohm load with all of your choices and Axiom's are all have high sensitivity. I liked my Onkyo so much that I replaced with the Onkyo 805 about a month ago so that I could enjoy the new audio codecs. There isn't much competition with Onkyo if you just have to drive 6 or 8 ohm speakers due to all of the features that they pack into such a reasonable price.

I have to disagree with the other guys pushing the m22's. If you have the budget for floorstanders then I say go with them. I would go with the m60's. Don't get me wrong I love my m22's, they sound great. But, if I could have stretched my budget a little further I would have went with the m60's. It will give you the option to listen to music sub-less without really missing much. Also, I bet it will have a fuller sound to it when watching movies with the sub on in comparison to the m22's. Finally, from a cosmetic standpoint I prefer to look at a tower speaker then a speaker on a stand.

IMO once you are used to listening with a sub no matter what model you have you will want to use the sub. Even with the M80s I always use my sub.

Just finished watching Casino Royal. Its amazing how real some of the effects sound (and not always the ones you expect) with good speakers.
For two channel I always found that bookshelves, even good ones sounded a little too small. I never listened to something like the M3s for HT though.
