My QS8's are to arrive Saturday and I need some advice on where to best place them. I can put them at the sides (which I want)
1. 3 feet in front of my main listening area, they will then be 20' apart from one another
2. 3 feet behind, which they will then be 10' apart. if I go with this option the rears will be 6' behind the sides, 9' with option one.
I have Rocket 760s for the mains, 250MKII's for the rear, Bigfoot CC and a HSU 3.3 sub. I had the Rocket 450's for the sides but the wife said too big. I opted for the QS8's over the Rocket 300's due to a smaller size and fantastic reviews. I am even thinking of getting them for the rears.
thanks to any that can guide me best,
Sam

can you move up your couch 3 feet? If then, that would be perfect.

If the couch can't be moved, I would go with option 2.
What is the shape of the room we're talking about? Are you in a corner?

After seeing the picture, I think my advice stays the same. Behind the seating.

I think that behind is probably closer to what is recommended for surrounds: 90-110?? degrees off axis (side to slightly behind).

I was surprised by how heavy they are.

Sam, welcome. Since you'll have back surround speakers, the side surround speakers won't have to help with the back effects. The suggestion to have the side surrounds a little farther back than the listening position, to help with back effects in a 5.1 setup without back surround speakers therefore doesn't apply. If possible you should have the QS8s directly to the side of the listening position, to maximize their side surround function. This isn't critical, especially with very wide dispersion surrounds such as the QSs, but if you could move the seating a little forward without compromising the room arrangement it'd be helpful.
