Ray I just spoke with a buddy of mine yesterday who picked up a PS3 for the double-duty job and he says he loves it. I'm thinking I just may check into the PS3. He told me I *may* decide to do some gaming while waiting out my waning years anyway...thanks bud.

I haven't had any problems with my PS3 running hot or loud, I believe mine is the 20g version. My Xbox 360 is much louder than my PS3.

A computer once beat me at chess, but it was no match for me at kick boxing.

I think loudness depends greatly on the model. Assuming the new 80GB models use the same fan system, I find mine to be audibly invisible from 7-8' away where I sit. This includes when the fan goes into higher gear, although I can't say I have ever noticed it do that even as I don't hear it.

With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Wow. I'm 10' away and i can hear it. It's not quite as loud as Xbox360, but *almost* as loud. I'll stick an SPL on it when I get a chance.
