How do I mount the T-bracket for the QS8's on the wall?

I know I have to find the stud with a stud finder, right?

I don't know how to put a screw on the wall. Do I just use a Phillip screw driver and start turning screw on the wall? Or would I need a Drill? I'm just really confused, because I never mounted these sort of things on the wall before.

You advice would be appreciated thanks!

I believe the owners manual covers this in detail. It might be easier to use a cordless drill to drive screws into a stud.

It would be much easier to use a drill to pre-drill the holes before you start screwing anything in. As long as you've got a couple of screws in the stud and some quality drywall anchors, you should be fine.

I like using what are called Toggle Bolts for the areas that don't have a stud to screw into. Depending on the size of the bolt, you will drill a hole in the wall at the size listed on the size of the toggle bolt package. Then you put the toggle bolts on your T-Bracket, pop the "wing" end through the holes in the wall, and tighten down the bolts. Then screw the rest of it into the stud with regular screws and a power screwdriver, or predrill those holes with a small drill bit and use a Phillips (+ shaped tip) screwdriver to put them in.

Here is a picture of a toggle bolt. The left shows how the "wings" fold in to be pushed through the drilled hole, and the right side shows how the "wings" pop open to make a secure hold. The yellow lines in the picture would represent where the T-Bracket would go.

I pre-drilled some pilot holes large enough to accommodate a few dry wall anchors (4 anchors for each T Bracket - 1 at each end of the "t," one in the middle at the top of the "t" and one at the bottom"). Then, I screwed some drywall screws into the anchors. I did not have any studs to screw into. For added strength and to spread the sheering force over a large area, I put regular unanchored drywall screws into the remaining holes.

The QS's are heavy, but not so heavy that the above installation won't be just fine. Unless you're going to try to hang from the bracket (not recommended), this should be sufficient. I think that the metal tabs will give way before the screws pull from the wall.

I just screwed it in. No pre-drilling...no anchors....no problem. I can't remember how many screws it takes.....something like 8 or so, but my brackets are rock solid.

I screwed the center screws into the studs with long wood screws and the ones on the T into the drywall with shorter drywall screws

I used a drill with a phillips screw-driver bit on it and just screwed them into the studs, no predrilling

I used really small nails at the bottom of the wall to help find the stud, then non-shrinked and painted the holes.

You could also use EZ-Anchors to install directly into the drywall.

Although with our current theme for this month, you really should have used a Fraggle Bolt....

Of course, if you have one of the "T" brackets from the "QS 24 Concept Speaker", it'll be alright.

OK, fine, you got me.

It's really a QS8 bracket and I'm a 9" Elf.

Sorry - I did mean hang, like swing, from the mount.

BTW: I literally laughed out loud (does that make me a lolcat?) at the fraggle bolt.
