Thanks for the kind comments and warm welcome!

Murph: Brevity is not one of my strong suits. Maybe that's why I'm a physicist.

JohnK: I tried _everything_ with the M2s. I confirmed the phase by eye and with AVIA. I did not actually look at the drivers during my soft tests, but they went UP in volume fine, just not down. Subtleties that disappeared around 58 dB on the M2s were audible down to 55 dB on the CSWs. Conversely sounds that became unbearably shrill at around 85 dB on the CSWs were still clean and pleasant at 95 dB on the M2s. The M2s are definitely more dynamic, and better suited to HT than my CSWs, but that's not my primary listening. I was astounded by the difference between the 2 & 22. I would have never guessed.

kcarlie: I considered floorstanders, but right now the wife doesn't want anything that big in a traffic area. Further, since I already have a quality sub in the HSU, I didn't need the extra bass from the towers. I also didn't have the justifiable disposable income for M80s at this time.

fredk: I plan to be around for awhile, but it appears I need to find a suitable avatar. \:\)

Oh, I understand the WAF. My wife didn't want "boxes on sticks," as she called them, nor did she want the large boxes of the M22s on the bookshelves. She likes the towers well enough.

It sounds like you picked the right speakers for your situation.
My M60's have the best "soundstage" when played loud, as well.
It's good to have yet another Illinois board member...welcome!

Yes, suitable avatars ARE crucial here ;\)

Well, in a coupla days, the Muppets will be obsolete, so all those who've not yet participated, you've got about 34 hours left to pull that Muppet out of your ... file folders and put it in your ... preferences.
