I am about to pull the trigger on a M60 system and cannot decided between the HSU VTF-2 and the EP350. I was leaning toward the HSU but with the discount the cost difference to get the EP35-0 is minimal. How do these subs compare?

I think there are more Hsu sub owners on this board than Axiom sub owners. That's got to tell you something. I have the VTF-2...I couldn't be happier (well maybe with the VTF-3)

I have the EP350 with some M60s. It does what I need it to do well enough. I can't really use it much as a part of the HT anymore with a newborn baby in the house (though he does love his reggae!). If I had it over, I probably would get one of the SVS cylinder subs OR one of those cheaper HSU subs that lack some of the extraneous controls the VTF2 and 3 have. Regardless, you're going to put together a pretty impressive system with any of them.

Thanks for the comments. I know that there are a lot of HSU owners here but is the VFT-2 really better than the EP350 or is it just a better deal when comparing the list prices.

I don't think anyone has listened side-by-side, but based on specs, and word of mouth, the VTF-2 seems have more solid performance, AND it's less expensive. (Even when you figure in the "package" discount, the Hsu is still about $90 less expensive, no?)

When the discount for the whole sytem is considered I would pay $9 more to get the EP350. The frequency response specs appear to me to be about the same but of course the EP350 is a 12" and has 50 more watts of power.

My VTF-2 is on a Fedex truck to be delivered...I'll get back to you all in a few hours on how much I like mine. For the record, I also have M60's, VP100 and QS4's.

I've never heard the HSU but - by all accounts - apparently it is better than the EP350. I was considering the SVS PSB2 as well, but I bought a big screen instead. If the thing is going to be sitting out in your family room you may want to take looks into consideration as well.

i have the 350, have not heard others, but i'm happy with it; my teenagers are too. i believe many have stated the 350 is a good sub, but more money than the other popular ones discussed here.

I own the Hsu VTF-3 and very happy with it. I believe that the Hsu subs are arguably the most solid performers for the money. That said, the EP series has one possible advantage -- the unified looks and finish with other Axiom speakers.

Dan, I had a similar question. I have the M60's VP150,QS'8's end an EP175. They are all 2 weeks new now and while the sub was ok for HT, it left me uninsired when it came to music. So I ordered an Hsu VTF-2 which is the exact same price as the EP-175. It arrived Thurday night and I can only say that there is no comparison! The VTF-2 makes such a difference in the mucic and truly enhances the M60Ti performance more than words can express! Do yourself a big favor and get the VTF-2 first, you'll be glad you did.

I decided to keep it simple and get the EP350. I also got b-stock for the QS8s and the VP150. What a deal! Having never heard the HSU I doubt I miss anything with the EP350.
