As I posted below: I have a 13' x 24' living room with a 9-10' ceiling (the front speakers will be against the long side). The surrounds will probably go on the back walls (as opposed to the short side walls), so I'm thinking that the Axiom full metal brackets may be useful for optimizing the surrounds because the system will be set up in the 'wide' orientation. Any experience or thoughts about this?

I would say take a peak at the brackets that come with them. They are uber-simple and very effective.
the FMB's seem kinda like an over-engineered way to hang speakers on the wall to me.

However, if you want a simple and sturdy way to point your speaker at tilt/swivel angles other than 90-degrees from the wall, the FMB is a great product.

Given that you plan to get the QS surrounds, I don't think you need the FMB. I suggest you mount the surrounds on the long back wall flat with the included brackets, just like I did with my QS8s -- I am also using the long sides of our living room as the front/back walls. The QS surrounds are very forgiving with respect to the mounting position and orientation.

I beleive Alan said once that it is better for the Qs8s to be mounted flat against the wall without the FMB.
However, my back surround channel had to be mounted very high because of a window and so I felt was not producing its best sound. I then bought the FMB for it and pointed it down towards the listener. I now can hear it a lot clearer and am much happpier with the result. My side surrounds are only wall mounted on the regular brackets that come with the speaker.
