Well I didn't want to make it sound like they are "actually doing it" this year, I have no clue. It's probably best that you call, but I thought the last couple of years they had it around the holidays. Doesn't mean that they are this year, though.

I sent an e-mail. Here is the response.
We don’t have any promotion which I am aware of planned for the Holiday Seasons. However, the finish which you are looking for is available from our Custom Vinyl Shop at a modest 12% cost option.

I think I would wait and see, I seem to recall the HG going on sale 2 years in a row just before the holdays and then earlier this year they had an overstock sale.

On the other hand, as an HG Cherry owner, I can tell you it's worth the 12% (though I did get it when it was on promotion). The reason not to get the high gloss finishes is that they can cast some reflections of light in your room, so if you find that distracting, a matte finish may be more for you. Personally, the reflection doesn't bother me, but it's not for everybody.

I ordered some samples one of them being the HG cherry. I can definately see what you mean about the reflections. It is stil hard to tell if this will bother me or not, but to me they look so much better then the standard boston cherry finish which frankly IMO looks cheap.

I don't know that it looks cheap, but its not my favourite either.
Looking at HG cherry vinyl next to the real thing, its almost impossible to tell the difference unless you are very very close.

I'm waiting to start construction of my theater room before I get speakers and since money will be tighter at that time I was planning on getting them through the Factory outlet but if this HG cherry upgrade happens I wouldn't be able to pass it up.
