I owned the highly acclaimed 3ti about four years ago or so. I loved their detailed and fleshed out midrange. They were excellent little speakers.
Is the 3v2 an improvement on the 3ti? What kind of improvements were made.
Thanks Denn

I believe there were some changes made to the crossovers (that's usually been the change with the v2s), but I was also under the impression that the M3s didn't have a crossover. Helpful, ain't I?
In any case, the v2 series is largely a designation that came about after a few years worth of changes and modifications that eventually lead to the decision to change the name. Depending on the speaker series, there may have been many changes (such as the EP350v3, which is a totally different design from the v2 and the original), or very few, such as the M50s.

Ken you are correct, the M3's do not have a physical crossover, they just let the 6.5" roll off and a diode or was it a resistor hooked up to the tweeter. I would imagine the M3s are the least changed out of all the Axiom lineup.

I think it would be a capacitor, actually, which is sort of a crossover, at least on the tweeter. I think they don't have a crossover on the woofer.

You know, I've been trying to talk my boss into getting some ninja crossovers, but he won't do it. Too expensive for his blood. And he can't get them on eBay.

The mind just isn't quite working right now, my 4, soon to be 5 yr old was awake all night, which meant I got home from work at 2:30 AM and took over for my wife, I think I managed 2 hrs of sleep.

Fair enough. I'm sorry to hear that.
Especially since I keep hoping that my 18 month old will never do that to us again...

I just couldn't think of the word, I knew someone else would come through As for the sleepless nights, it only happens once in blue moon, he is sick and it appears this has his time table all messed up. I will guess it is due to a nap in the afternoon he is no longer accustomed to.

Yep, there's just a high-pass filter on the M3's tweeter, and the woofer has its own natural mechanical/acoustical roll-off. You have to have a high-pass filter on the tweeter to keep out the bass frequencies, which would otherwise burn it out.
Nothing was changed sonically on the M3ti to the M3 v2. They are identical in sound. The Algonquin, which is just an M3 in outdoor clothes, also sounds virtually identical to its indoor cousin, with maybe a touch more "punch" in the lower bass. The latter is the only slight difference I heard in the blind tests comparing the Algonquin prototype with the M3 v2.
