So when's the "breaking in" party?!?! We need to break in the fire pit, especially on these chilly days!

Congrats, looking awesome. How many square feet did the renovations add in total?

Jason, Thx, I'll be glad when the construction is over! We added about 600 square feet to the interior (3 rooms, the sunroom and playroom are about 180 each, the guest bedroom is about 260). We also added about 350 square feet of patio (which we never had before), and increased the deck square footage from 250 to about 350). I have a question for all of you with fire pit knowledge. As you can see from the picture above, they put the gas valve on the top of the pit. I'm used to seeing it on the wall of the pit. Since I'm out of town on business, I asked my wife to start the pit for me so I could see what it looks like. The video is here: https://rcpt.yousendit.com/627567211/7fc7d34149c80b7a6746c3a753e8e448(It's a big file, like 75MB)... What it looks like they did was off-center the fire ring to accommodate the valve on the top rather than the side of the pit. She only had the gas about 3/4 up in the video because she said the fire was HUGE when the valve was all the way open (but the fire did not reach the valve). Is this an accepted practice, or should I request the valve to be moved, and the ring centered? Steve

I love the fire pit, but you are right, it seems odd that it is off-center like that. I know nothing about how it should be, so maybe that is correct, but I would have thought that the valve could have been put on the outside of the stone ring and with a little extra gas tubing, everything would have lined up nicely...
So, when is the weenies and s'mores roast?

Thanks for the info Nick,
I'd say we all can have a get together/audition for whomever wants this spring when it warms here! 21 degrees today...

Okay, it's been a while. The work outside is basically done, but we will need to stain the pergola in the spring (it finally got too cold for outside work). The furniture has been delivered for the 3 new rooms (except for the area rugs in the sun room and the playroom). But, here it is as it stands now from the inside: Partial view (No fairway approach) from guest bedroom: The guest bedroom bed (room on the left for a massage chair): Ready for the Plasma and surround sound: This sucker goes right on the brace when I get home next week: The sun room (sans area rug... and sun): The playroom for the kids (sans area rug, and their toys): Two more... View from the deck and patio on a cold morning:
