About the only real improvement I noticed was I liked the way the HD version was scaled to fit the 16x9 screen but then I can do that locally but not quite as well. Any improvements in the audio? I haven't watched an upscaled version of Patton, this was the first time I've seen the movie in what seems like ages although I will say that I was extremely pleased with the 'natural' look, if you will, of the BR Patton. Seems to me like most of the modern movies do a lot of digital artistic imaging touch up that I am not too terribly fond of, whereas this movie had a crisp, detailed and realistic picture ... I'd love to see more of the war movies in high def, Tora, Tora, Tora would be amazing I bet. The audio on the BR Patton is DTS and is pretty darn good although a lot of it seemed to come from the front soundstage ... without nary the first complaint from me. |

Does anybody have any recommendations for Gods and Generals? I don't know why I haven't seen this movie yet, looks like a good Civil War movie.

Here’s what Rotten Tomatoes has to say. http://www.rottentomatoes.com/m/gods_and_generals/ Quote: Consensus: Filled with two-dimensional characters and pompous self-righteousness, Gods and Generals is a long, tedious sit. Some may also take offense at the pro-Confederate slant. I bought it as part of a package deal and mentioned it to a friend who said that he liked it which usually means I won’t so I haven’t got around to watching it. If you do watch it please post your thoughts as I like Civil War movies. @ Rick - thanks for the feedback. I agree with you about many of the new movies. Call me sick but some of my favorite looking movies are the old Technicolor ones. They also looked overproduced but I just loved the vivid colours. Whoa, 3 hours 39 minutes?? I don't think I'll be watching this one anytime soon Grunt, especially after reading most of the viewer's comments. I saw it on BR whenever I rented Patton and thought it looked interesting, maybe not.

Watched The Mentalist on the DVR tonight. This show has very well-mixed sound (and it's also one of the better new shows in awhile).

I received today the "buffy" 40-disk series at 69$ that I was going to give as a gift. I watched the first FOUR episode this PM and... well... I'll watch a few more, but I might just keep it! It is not as bad I as I remember it.
