I still add that to my Netflix queue.
Right now, I'm waiting to see "Michael Clayton." As soon as my PS3 upgrade is done. Zzzzz.. . .

George Clooney, Tilda Swinton, and someone else from Michael Clayton were in Burn After Reading. I liked Michael Clayton. I can see why some people would think it was slow and boring, but I liked it.
I'm about to start watching The Wire on my sister's recommendation.

Watched "legends of country music" and "American Expierience: the Carter Family" with the parents tonite. The SQ was as good as could be expected from 40-plus year old material.

Wow, I really enjoyed "Michael Clayton." I thought the writing and acting was top notch. Definitely a film that seems nuanced at first, but there are quite big things happening if you pay attention. It's a rewarding film if you allow it to be.
But, yes, I can see how some might see it as boring. Far from it for me, though.

Started watching “Space Above and Beyond.” I had never seen the whole thing nor the pilot which gave me some flashbacks. So far I like it though there seem to be a lot of story arcs right from the start. To bad this one was killed by FOX just like they killed “Firefly”. Well here’s hoping that Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles survives another season though I doubt it. I’ve put off watching season 2 so I can see the whole thing at once on DVD the same way I watched the first season. Gotta have my Summer Glau fix.

Before the Rains. A very Somerset Maugham-ish story about the ways a man might fall at the end of an empire. I strongly suspect it is based on one of his plays or books. Maugham had a way of painfully grinding a story toward an inevitable tragic conclusion.
Unfortunately it has a holywood gloss to it that takes away from the utterly depressing nature of some of Maughams tragedies that punctuated the futility of some parts of English society at the end of colonialism.
Very good, almost great.
The soundtrack is very well done. The background noises make exellent but sublte use of the surrounds and there is lots of percussion in the musical scores along with some deep rumbling bass to punctuate some dramatic moments. The soundtrack made good use of indian instruments and voice that I really liked.

Last night I watched the live-action Death Note movie. It doesn't hold a candle to the anime, unfortunately. The story in the anime is very well-written, developing at the perfect pace, milking the introduction of each new detail for maximum effect. The movie fumbles every opportunity. It was hard to watch. Uninspired direction, poor acting, and sub-par special effects didn't help.

More of The Wire. I'm liking the show a lot more as I watch it. The attention to detail makes it feel very real. I can see why my sister recommended it.

Whole lotta nuthin. W/ the holiday break, I was able to clear out my HD Tivo of this season's CSI's and a few other shows backed up.
Now I can't wait for the next 2 weeks with 24, Damages and the final season of BSG. Plus my local comcast just turned on FX HD so I can watch Damages in HD. Hopefully Rescue Me returns soon as well.
