Looking to pick up a Blu Ray player, but my receiver does not have HDMI inputs so I must go with analog audio connections. I still use an Oppo for SACD and DVD-A. Is there an economical alternative to a Zektor switcher? I think there was a thread on this but I could not find it in the search.

Nach, Monoprice has a bit less expensive(about a twentieth)unit.

Unfortunately,, the Monoprice seems to be only for "component" video switching, NO AUDIO. I have done the same looking around for a switcher capable of up to 7.1 multiple switching and the Zektor was the only one I could find with this capability. As "Nachosgrande" implied, the Zektor is pretty expensive for what it is doing so it would almost be more practical to take the money and go out and buy a lower end "new" receiver with the current HDMI connections for audio so you can do away with the analog connections for both players.

Casey, there's no difference between audio and video in this context; this is just passive switching between different sets of incoming coaxial cables which can carry either audio or video signals. The MonoPrice description does mention carrying audio.

I think the problem would be not enough connections per port for either 5.1 or 7.1 audio.

Given the price of the Zektor, I think you're far better off saving up and getting a receiver that does what you want (HDMI switching). You'll get a lot more bang for your buck in the long-run than relying on the Zektor as an interim solution that costs almost as much as the entry level HDMI switching receivers.

According to this picture there appears to be 6 connections per input. Anyone have actual experience with this?

Good find... if you are not looking for the unit to do any video switching, this might work. At $20 compared to the Zektor, I'd give it a try if I were in your position.
