Hi guys, Im new here and let me say that this forum is one of the best forums for audio info that I have come across ,so I decided to join. NEWAYZ, Im looking into getting my first true HT system.I dont know to much about HT electronics, but im very well experienced in the car audio field, hence my migration into HT.I have a Denon 1907 reciever. I was wondering if this thing had enough ballz to power some m60,vp150,and a pair of QS8.
I am on a budget so I cant upgrade my reciever. Also Im going to use a pw2100 paradigm subwoofer with this setup, does anybody know if that sub meshes well with the axiom 60s? Any help would greatly be appreciated

Thankz
NorbPac

Norb, welcome. As always, the question of how much maximum power capacity is needed in a receiver will vary with factors such as your distance from the speakers, how loud an average level you listen at and how wide the dynamic range of the material that you play is. It can be said that in the vast majority of home listening situations that the 1907 has plenty of power for those Axioms, which use about 1 watt at a comfortably loud listening level, while split-second peaks, depending on the material, might hit the 100 watt area.

There're more powerful subs than the PW2100, but certainly it can extend the bass coverage of M60s very usefully.

A friend of mine has a total Paradigm setup. I think that is his exact sub. He says my EP500 would eat his and burp more bass if they ever were to meet in person but I actually think it does a good job in his particular setup. I think it would sound very nice with M60s.

With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

Your receiver can handle the M60s in that size room but again it also depends on your listening levels as JohnK mentioned.

I like it moderately loud(to many SPL contests in my life haha)Normal listinig levels, I would not go more than 3/4 way up on the reciever with my klipsch 8.5, that brings me to another question. Can i use the Klipsch 8.5 as a rear and my qs8 as R surround for a 7.1 or will that horn tweet totally distort the SQ of the axioms?

You can use the Klipsch as rears the QS8's are better for the side surround duties, the question is can you handle the tonal differences on rear pans across the back, if it bothers you then you would need to get some M2s or more QS8's or similar, otherwise you would be good to go.

Your Denon is more than capable of running the M80s, I ran mine off an 1804 and had no problems what so ever. In a room of your size you could even run M22s and upgrade your sub to have more impact for HT as the M22+ sub is very good, nearly as good as M60/M80+sub. I still prefer my M80s+sub to M22+sub, but that is me; and I have both M80s and M22 around the house to continually subject myself to listening tests to assure myself I made the right decision in purchasing the M80s, \:\)

You can also look to the Factory Outlet to save a few more dollars, 10% off list price as well as another 5% for the HT discount which is any 5 products.
