Any one know where I may be able to purchase a 3 pronged conductor Power cord longer than 10'.
The cord is the ones found on the back of the subwoofer.
I ordered my sub from Stryke Audio but his cord is short.
I checked Parts Express they only had 10', Rat Shack only had 6'. Any ideas?

does it plug onto a male connection, or is it wired internally. if wired internally, pigtails are available at an electrical supply house, or appliance parts supply house. if all else fails, tho not cool, try an hd a/c extension cord with the same availability.

Look for power cables for servers (espeically rack mount ones). I know that they often come with 12' cables.

Found them.
Belkin Pro Series Computer AC Power Replacement Cable 20-Ft for $2.86 + $4.95 ship = $7.81 total. Provantage.com
I cannot believe some of the others I found, or links passed to me from other forums, all with good intentions. HOW, in their right mind, can anyone justify spending almost $300.00 for a POWER CORD. But, I saw them. Maybe I'm just a cheap bas....d but c'mon. I think some of these "cable/wire" specialty shops have really gotten out of hand. I don't think a $5000.00 computer would have this. I know mine didn't and it cost me enough at the time. What is the fantasy with REALLY expensive wiring? Status, ignorance, peer pressure, nothing better to do with money, all of the above? I can't understand it, maybe somebody else can shed some light on it!!

Tell me about it. PSAudio.com has this to say about cables:

"...too few people have listened to [our speaker cables] and we want to get the word out, but perhaps more importantly we are trying to figure out a way to demonstrate the importance of the speaker cable in the system. In fact, speaker cables are the second most important connections; with power cables being the first." (my emphasis)

Crazy, ain't it?

Davey, I have a cord I believe to be around 14'. It is 16-AWG x 3. Let me double check and get back to you. You could have it, for the cost of shipping.

Dave, if there's any bigger scam in audio than exotic speaker cables, it's exotic power cords.

Peter, after lengthy pondering of the PS Audio statements, I'd say that the speaker cables and power cord are both important and that the absence of either would have a drastic effect on the sound.

That's true, but you still get the pretty lights without the speaker cables!

I can see it now: "Get 300% brighter blue LEDs with this $4000 speaker cable made of our secret 110% pure gold/silver alloy!"

Spoke with John over at Stryke Audio.
He emailed me to say that the total power consumed by the amp is 750 watts.
The Power cord I ordered is 20' at 16 awg. Will this suffice or do I need heavier guage.
My reason for this whole thing is as follows:
Assuming (I hate that word) that I can or need to do the following!!
When all my pieces finally arrive, last being the sub. all else is here.
I am going to be using a Monster HTS 3600 to incorporate all my pieces. I thought I had to, or would be better off, plugging my sub into the line conditioner. If I did that the rack where the components would be is further away than 10'. If i don't have to plug into the line conditioner, I can use an outlet closer. But I thought the whole idea of the line conditioner was the ability to plug all my pieces into one unit.
If I don't need to do this I don't need the extended lenght. But with thwe extra lenght movability becomes easier. Hence when the wife cleans, she can move it out of the way. Any thoughts, ideas, suggestions, input etc. is always appreciated. If I do need a heavier guage, please let me know where to look without having to take out a mortgage for power cords. I can't believe it, 1 power cord was 269.00. My M22's were 400.00. ??????????? Maybe it's me$$$$

Dave, forget the line conditioner, forget the 20 foot cord(although 16ga would work fine), just plug the Mini Thunder right into the wall outlet and enjoy.

I agree. Even if there is a difference with a line conditioner, a sub is the least likely speaker to reveal that difference to you since it works in the octaves our ears are the least sensitive to.

Thanks. Okay, plug sub into outlet closest to wall.
However, should I use a surge protector here solely for the sub, is one needed or recommended?
I already ordered the cables, got a decent buy.
Company call IXOS
Item : IXOS 1182 Bronze Sub Cable 12m.......24.99

I use multiple surge suppressors for all my gear. I would suggest getting a good APC (www.apcc.com) surge suppressor so that it gets fried instead of your gear. If lightning or a large surge hits that outlet I would prefer a $50 power strip to get fried instead of any of my gear.

Thats just my $0.02, but if major power is coming out of that outlet what would you like to get destroyed, your gear or the power strip. It is cheap insurance basically.
