At risk of hijacking another post *ahem* - the worst movie ever made? We'll also take honorable mentions for worst line in a movie.

My personal favorite worst line in a move - _Life or Something Like It_ with Angelina Jolie - her sister gives her father a home theater. He asks what it is. She says "It's a Bose Home Theater, Daddy. The most scientifically accurate speakers on the market" or similar. It was appalling!

Movie so bad I walked out of the theater - _King Ralph_.

Any other votes?

Rhinestone with Dolly Parton and Sylvester Stallone. Sylvester sure is no Frank Stallone when it comes to singing.

Avengers with Uma Thurman. What a waste of a good tv show... I was embarassed for Sean Connery when he wore that stupid bear costume.

Sean Connery makes some weird movie decisions! I was embarrassed for him when he hit on Catherine Zeta Jones in _Entrapment_ - yeech. That one gave me the willies.

The Rich Man's Wife.

Maybe it improved after I saw the pre-screening, but I wasn't about to go back and check.

I agree about Titanic. I actually found the scene where it was going down and all those people were sliding down the deck to be quite humorous. I had to try hard to keep from laughing out loud in the theater.

You mean this movie? Never seen it, but it does sound pretty bad.

By the way, the IMDB website is a great resource.

As far as Titanic, I take pride in being on of the few people left in the world that never saw it!

Yes, Peter, and if you didn't rely on such a tame site for movie info, but instead checked this and its info here you'd be more aware. Which of the other titles named here will have its own website 40 years from now and billions of adoring fans still exclaiming "Boy what a lousy flick"?

A couple that I nominate that i have seen recently are 8 mile... and the one with jack nickalson? where he has the wife and she dies and then he drives around in the RV. oh well. that one.

Waterworld was made here. They filmed the whole thing here they had that whole big fortress in one of the harbors just a ways from here then they drug it out to sea and sank it. It was made our of old junk boats and trash. And the last scene was flimed in Waipio valley. i thought that movie wasnt bad. my mom even went to one of the casting calls for extras in the movie.

Well my worst movie ever made is Nothing But Trouble staring John Candy, Dan Akroyd and Demi Moore. I had the misfortune of picking this movie to see with my friends and needless to say, it was a while before I was able to choose another movie for the group.

I know most people won't agree with this, but I have a short list which I might expand.
1. Pulp Fiction. I thought it was stupid, just plain stupid.
2. Any movie directed by Kevin Smith except Clerks. I did like that one. The rest of his stuff is unwatchable. Mall Rats, I think it's called is horrible.
3. The only movie I've actually walked out on was Comes a Horseman starring James Caan and Jane Fonda. I have never been so bored in my life.

I just could not bring myself to sit through more than about a half hour of Austin Powers. A stupid, stupid movie. Most of the bad movies we see are forgettable; that one still stands as a memorably bad one.

Fun thread.

Yep. Those two really stood out. I've watched both at least a half dozen times each.

btw...I watched Zoolander again this weekend. How can people not love that movie?

Yep. Zoolander is very funny and very cleverly written. Ben Stiller is a comedic genious.

Do yourself a favor and funnel all your hatred of actors named Ben toward the Affleck variety. Then rent Zoolander and laugh your a** off. Even Jen would love it.

Zoolander is one of those movies that people either get, or they don't. People either think it's a work of genius, or a load of crap. I'm in the former camp.

Another movie I like that most folks just don't get is "Death to Smoochie". How anybody can possibly not think it is hysterical when Ed Norton sings "Your stepdad's not mean, he's just adjusting" is beyond me.

I have seen several of my favorite movies nominated in this thread, Including Magnolia, Pulp Fiction, Austin Powers, About Schmidt (although what do you expect from somebody who didn't think Waterworld was bad), and Mallrats.

Two universally critically acclaimed movies I think are terribly overrated are Raging Bull and Taxi Driver, but the only movie I ever walked out was Rich and Famous, with Candice Bergen and Jacqueline Bisset

By most accounts 'Manos' The Hands of Fate (1966). According to some this makes Plan 9... look like an Oscar nominee.

Mary, thanks for bringing that list to our attention.

Jeff, my view would be that Plan 9 deserves the edge in this competition over Manos. The "co-stars" of Manos didn't commit suicide until after the film was completed. Bela Lugosi died at the beginning of the filming of Plan 9, presumably due to his reading the script.

Oh my god...you'd didn't just say that did you?

How many times have you watched Raging Bull? To be fair, I didn't "get it" the first time either. Once I did though, it nearly brought me to tears. Robert Deniro's performance is astounding.

Taxi Driver I think is more acclaimed for how different it was for the time than it is a perfect movie on it's own. People just hadn't seen anything like that before.

I recognize that Deniro's performance in Raging Bull is astonishing...I just found the character to be totally unlikable, as were all the other characters in the movie. I found it to be a brilliantly executed, though completely unenjoyable movie.

Of course, I'm the one person in America who likes Mallrats, so what do I know?

I still can't believe anyone liked Magnolia.

Some movies that I have little memory of, other than pain, anger, and hatred: My Left Foot, Red Desert Penitentiary, and The Flintstones. Terrible movies, but not compared to Magnolia.

If you liked Magnolia, you're wrong.
