The vast majority of today's loudspeaker cabinets, including the Axiom cabinets, are made of the medium-density fiberboard (MDF). The Axiom cabinets are finished with a wide variety of vinyl veneers.

cant speak for the M60. but heres a couple of my M80's

the MDF for the outer part of the cabinet is 3/4 as well as the internal bracings if i remember correctly...

And as you can see, each of the midranges has its own sealed box to seperate it from the rest of the cabinet.

Cool pics! I know you posted some pics of your drivers a while ago, but do you have any more pictures of the construction/drivers/crossover/etc?

Thanks sipff,
but i still have my cruddy angelfire account. They give me 20 mb but you cant host pics from them (without getting that cheater software) and they have very limited bandwidth. But anyway i found the page i made back when i posted the pics before. You'll have to go to the link and it might be slow. Axiom M80 pics

Thanks, Brandon. The site isn't particularly slow at all. Seeing these pictures of the Axiom drivers again, I now wonder what the heck are those "secondary" magnets (or whatever) that are behind the main ones and a bit smaller in diameters??? I don't think I've seen such driver construction very often...

Also, these photos clearly tells that, although the Axiom drivers are probably made by the same manufacturer who also makes certain Dayton drivers (such as the 5.25" driver shown below), the details are significantly different. Besides the additional ring of magnet, the dust cap diameter (and hence the voice coil) is clearly larger in the Axiom driver.

Those second magnets behind the main ones are for sheilding. I believe they are something like opposite polarity of the main one (but glued down) to cancel out magnetic fields. The way they work may not be right, but im almost positive they are the sheilding magnets
