I am moving into a new home and the bonus room where I will be putting my HT gear is abour 20x18 with the typical "over the garage" type sloped ceiling...slopes off the front and back wall then flat ceiling over the bulk of the room. I have M3s and a VP100 in the front of my current system and am currently using M3s in the rear. The room has great locations for side mounting the QS up the walls, but because I am buying 4 [2 for this room and two for another] I am wondering if I will get good impact with the QS4s versus the obvious favorite QS8s.
Just curious if anyone has used the QS4s in a room close to this size, or am I going to be wishing I had bought the QS8 when its all over?
Just looking for some advice.
Thanks!
Alan

The QS4 is a good surround speaker, Laser, but if it's within your budget the QS8 is a lot more speaker for only about 20% more $$ and given the size of your room I'd definitely opt for the 8's (greater range and more power).

I would also say go with the Qs8's. They can handle more power, have larger drivers, and won't give you a case of "what if".

I wonder if Axiom has ever done blind testing of the QS4 and QS8 as "mains" with a crossover point anywhere between 80-100 (majority crossover point for the QS's). I'd be interested in those results.

Thanks guys...appreciate the advice. I will probably pull the trigger on the QS8s and just be done with it.
Has anyone ordered from the Factory Outlet to comment on what kind of blemishes the speakers may have? For the QS...they are up and out of sight/mind so am less concerned if there is a nick or something.
Thanks again!

Hi LJ, I have recently purchased 4 QS8's from the FO in standard black finish. Of the 4 I could find a blemish on only one of them. It can only be seen on close inspection (more of a subtle bubble than a nick) and cannot be seen from the standard seating positions. I can also attest to the amazing customer service that Axiom provides - along with everyone else on this forum. IMHO, you can order from the FO with confidence as long as you have the patience for the extra waiting time!

Laser, many of us who order from the FO, cannot find anything wrong with them. Some people are able to find very small blemishes on occasion, but it's my belief that Axiom wouldn't ship a badly blemished product even from their FO.

I have ordered a 2 M80s, 2 M60s, and a VP150 from the outlet and they have all been in very good condition, only the M60s had any blemishes that I could find easily, the others are in mint condition as far as I am concerned.

I think this question is in the top 10 list. Don't worry about the FO, you will most likely not find any problems.

Thanks guys...the reason I return to Axiom is because of how great my initial experience was with the purchase of my 4 M3 and the VP100 I use with them. I probably would have bought a sub from them if they had them at the time...went SVS for that at the time.
Great to hear about the FO...a nice deal if you ask me.

Wow, when was your first purchase? They have had subs well before my time as a member?

Well...maybe I mispoke...but I want to say I purchased my Axioms back in 2002-2003..honestly cannot remember but I have gone through 2 DLPs and 2 receivers since I have had them.
I did not remember them having subs but maybe they did and I just went with SVS because I was not sure about the Axioms.
Man it sux getting old!

Laser, I concur on FO's as a very good way to go. My room is somewhat larger than yours at 31' x 23'W. If you like the QS type speaker, you had definitely better go with the QS8s. I tried the 8's 23' apart and I personally preferred my direct firing 8" woofer in-wall sides. It all depends on the room and your tastes of course. I love the M80s and VP150! Curious of how QS8 owners with wider than usual rooms (say 18' plus) are finding the Qs working for them in their rooms? Who has the widest room with QS8's?
