If you search the thread a bit (not easy) you will find several very good discussions of this topic and even some pics.

Guitar Center actually has some decent prices on sound panels. I was surprised to see it, but I guess they aim for the home studio market and so you can get whole packages for $600. Seemed like a decent deal, but I did not price out each part.

I think Menards carries the insulation board, similar to Owens Corning 703, at least visually it looks the same.

Newkid. Whats important is the density. As long as its 3lb/cu.ft. or more it will perform the same. Mineral board is an equivelant as well. You might also look for other manufacturers. I found stuff from Ottawa Fibre locally.

newkid - do some more digging, you may find a place near you that you can buy the stuff from. I found an industrial supply store, ejbartells, with a location here in Denver who I can buy from. I hope to purchase the boards next week, from there its just the fabric and the materials for hanging. You may want to check the ejbartells website and see if there is one near you. Good luck.

I've got 6 703 panels left over from my project, but you live a long ways away. They are 2" thick by 2ft x 4ft in size.

I'm sure it could be shipped, just a large box. I don't think there would be any issues shipping such material. Probably would have to be UPS ground.

I ordered 4 x 4" bass trap bags for $30 each from ready acoustics for $30 each, bought my own JM IS300 (OC 703 equivalent) 9 2x4 sheets for $90. So I got 4 4" thick bass traps for $52 each. It costs around $90 including shipping when buying a pre-assembled bass trap So I saved aorund $120. Its worth it to DIY, even with the bass trap bags (which are super easy to use).
