Just watched a couple episodes of Star Trek: The Animated Series. It’s been so long since I’d seen it I only had the vaguest recollection of the shows. I liked the “life support belts” that the used in the show, because I always thought it was sort of silly that in the regular series and the movies they have warp drive and transporters but couldn’t come up with anything better than a big bulky pressure suit. I like this series as it seems to capture the flavour the original Star Trek. However, if memory serves they also did some borrowing from Larry Niven’s “Known Space” universe.
The disks are billed as 5.1 audio but there’s little to nothing coming from the surrounds.
In keeping with the retro theme I think I’ll watch Aeon Flux now.

I like this series as it seems to capture the flavour the original Star Trek. Space cowboys? I remember how excited the whole family was when the first episodes came out because we were all avid scifi readers. Years later the series seems so cheesy. I guess maybe thats just a measure of how far the genre has come. If the original Star Trek is cheesy, Lost In Space (which I loved at the time) is just god awful.

FWIW, yesterday I discovered that we have a new channel on Comcast...or an old one that changed programming. They were carrying Marcus Welby, Adam-12, Emergency!, Quincy, Rockford Files.... all kinds of shows that I hadn't seen in years! I gave most of them "three thumbs up" on my TiVo so it'll record some episodes here and there, and a Season Pass to Quincy. I had been searching for that one periodically for the last ten years. I used to love that show!

External Drive... I must have 50-60 hours of HD stuff on there. I have not had one single show / movie bumped in the 6-8 months I've had that drive. I have movies from January that I haven't watched yet.... LOVE that drive!

That’s cool they’re running all those shows I use to watch all of them. It’s stuff that’s fun to see but I wouldn’t necsesaraly want to get the DVDs for all of them. There use to (maybe still is) a cable/sat channel I think called “TV Land” that showed that stuff. Can’t remember if it was them or Sci-fi who use to show “Land of the Giants” and “Wonder Woman” reruns in the morning. Space cowboys? I remember how excited the whole family was when the first episodes came out because we were all avid scifi readers. Years later the series seems so cheesy. I’m still a big Sci-fi nut so even though many of those shows do seem cheesy I’ve still gotten a lot of them. I got smoking deals on “Lost in Space,” “Space 1999,” “UFO,” “Buck Rogers in the 25th Century.” “Isis.“ I’ve got all the Tom Baker “Dr Who” but it’s on Beta and in serious need of an upgrade (at least it was from PBS so no commercials). Lots more I want to collect still.
