I have had a grand master system for a view years and have greatly enjoyed it. I moved to a new home, and the home theater room is much smaller. I am considering replacing the M22 and VP 150 with the in wall versions. I have a closet behind the front (tv) wall and am wondering if I could cut out part of the wall and recess the EP 500? Would it significantly diminish the sub's performance?

I'm guessing you will see some performance issues. For starters, the subs placement is one of the hardest positions to find for best results. Odds are that behind the tv is not the best position, but you may not have any other options.

Also, the direction of the subs signals don't just shoot straight out the front driver, they are omnidirectional. Think of throwing a rock in a pond/lake, the waves ripple out in all directions around that location.

Will it work, yes, but most likely you won't get the best performance. Again, you may not have other options.

How big is this new room?

It's 13.5 x 14 ft. I currently have it against one of the side walls.

I'd say try to find the right position first, then do your cut there. I don't think it'll be that much of a big deal--I know Axiom's done at least 1 demo room that had the sub recessed in the wall. However, that was for purely aesthetic reasons.

how big was your last home theater. I ask this because I like the on/in wall but my room is close to 7000 cubic feet. So I thought they might not work for that size of room.
