Me again! (flat wires...)

I could not live with the pink cables anymore... and also the blacks ones for the side surrounds. Especially after a nice female violinist came home two nights ago and dared make a remark... (she's out of the race to become Ms. Falardeau, BTW ;\) ).

So yesterday at 1PM I ordered some flat wires with the terminals and 22 hours later I received them! (Axiom sure is fast!) I had my brother visiting so I did not install anything before 5PM; but he DID comment on on how much better it sounded with the back surrounds up there and also on how ridiculous it looked!.

Also, bear in mind that the appartment is supposed to be repainted this year so the white flat wires should stand out less in the end...

So here are a few pictures of the steps and material used.

Next steps: I will now start looking for nice coverings for the terminal blocks, especially the one on the ceiling. Any of you has ideas in that area?

EDIT: The flat wires are very good, but I have to admit that Axiom could make an effort to find a better way to interconnect the flat wires and the terminal blocks. It is really poor. A more specialized (flat on one end and round on the other; or versions with built-in forks or banana plugs) version would be much appreciated. The glue and the layering is top notch!

What excellent timing. I am moving in a 10 or so days, and have been planning on installing the new HT with flat wire. What a great improvement in looks! I doubt the wires will be noticeable at all after the fresh paint is applied. Great job!

Actually, if you're going to paint anyway, you could score the drywall about 1/4" depth, place your regular wire in the channel then spread some drywall compound over it and sand it. Primer and topcoat, nobody knows it's there...don't know if it's to your building code or not(do they care about speaker wires?).

I've done this with smaller gauge wire, you wouldn't know it's there.

Half of communication is listening. You can't listen with your mouth.

don't be in rush to find a mrs. just yet. enjoy the music. remember, she will want more attention on her than the speakers.

Very nice job.
