A few nights ago, me and the wife went and saw Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs in 3D. All I can say is what a good movie, I can see some not liking it but for me and the wife we had a great time. (I wanted to see it, no kids yet)

Anyway when I was watching the movie I listened to the movie I mean really listen at how good or bad it was. Well 45mins in the movie to lean over to the wife and said, My system at home sounds better. Don't get me wrong it was not bad but loud and big boom does not make good sound.

edit: It was loud but I could not tell there was any surround sound or feel the bass.Wish we had a good theater where I live

I would imagine that it is pretty hard to generate enough LFE in such a large space. I also think that its a huge challenge to do surround well for all or even most seats in a theater.

I don't think I have ever been in a theater that does as well as what I have at home now.

Since I bought my Axioms I’ve gone out and seen exactly one movie “Aeon flux.” I needed to kill a couple hours while my car alarms was being installed. I use to go to movies every week but now except for IMAX I can’t see any reason I would ever go to a movie theater again.

Recently a friend of my father bought a HDTV and wanted to borrow “Master and Commander” because I had shown it for him and my father right after getting my Axioms. I asked him what speakers he bought and he said he was waiting on those. I didn’t say anything…

A few days later my dad said he talked to him and he was really disappointed in the movie…that it was nothing like when he saw it a my place.

It's funny how once you have an excellent home theatre, you get used to it and kind of take it for granted. That is, until you watch a familiar movie, concert or sporting event at one of your neighbours/friends, then realize how much they are missing. "Master and Commander" HAS to be seen and more importantly HEARD and FELT on a nice HT to fully appreciate it...kind of draws you right into the movie.

Some movies are just big. . .and they need the proper treatment. Small tvs with no speakers just ain't gonna cut it!

Unless you're micro-sized yourself, like in Honey, I Shrunk the Kids. If we could just get that technology worked out, our dedicated theater rooms would cost a lot less.

Perhaps they will design a football type helmet with all kinds of mini drivers in it, and a small sub at the back of the head for effect. Of course, if it's a Monster Helmet it will actually cost 20 times what a regular HT does but that's the price one pays for cutting edge football helmets.

The football helmet theater would work well for Sean's SO.

I could see many women taking that in the wrong context. ;\)

OTOH I have considered buying some of those high def goggles that simulate a 50-56 inch HDTV for the 13 hour flights to Guam. But I’d have to be able to demo them for a few hours to make sure they don’t cause headaches or anything before shelling out the money.
