Hey guys, I'm having a shelf made for my VP150 and I need some input. I've asked for the shelf to be made 8" wide, as the VP150 is 7.5 "wide; is that wide enough? Enough clearance from the wall? Also, I will be mounting it below my plasma which it will obviously stick out in front of, but I didn't know if it should be mounted a certain distance below it because of possible sound reflections or something (that's my technical talk), or if I can mount it just below it?
If you guys can help me out ASAP it would be greatly appreciated, it's going to be made tonight or tomorrow.
Thank you very much.

Cam, I would think you should make the shelf a little deeper for these two reasons: 1) give yourself a bit more room for wiring esp if you are using Banana Plugs which will need more room and 2) you may decide to set the VP150 on it's angled side which will effectively increase it's width.
I'd suggest 9" or even a tad more for safety.

Cam, I'd use an Axiom Full Metal Bracket instead of a shelf.
I think viewing angle is going to be important, depending upon the height of your plasma. Any chance you could put the VP150 above the TV and angle it down?
If you really must use a shelf, leave enough space behind for the wires/banana plugs/etc. Put the front of the speaker a little forward from the edge of the shelf.
I'm not helping am I?

Speaking of shelving, it just occurred to me why Tom drinks so much beer ... because he keeps it on the bottom shelf.Cam, whenever I had our system in the other room I bought a ready made shelf from Home Depot that was perfect in size. It was similar to this... (minus the teapots) I mounted it above the TV (plasma) and used a couple of the old style rubber door stops to angle the face of the 150 down to the viewing area, it worked great and cost around 15 or 20 bucks ... I knew I should have visited Tom when I was out there.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys. I have to use a shelf below the TV because I have a bulkhead that comes right down to the top of the TV. As for the shelf, I don't use banana plugs, but adding an extra inch sounds like a good idea, Adrian.
Tom, I'll make sure that the speaker just slightly overhangs the front edge of the shelf; didn't know to do that.
Rick, I was going to get one of those shelves but I couldn't find one that was 55 1/2 inches long (the width of my TV). I'm also going to use it for my extra remotes.

Very compelling image, Rick. Um, "I wish". Cam, great idea about the remotes and having the shelf the same width as the TV. That should be great!

Very compelling image, Rick. Are you talking about all those beers in the bottom of the fridge, Tom? or just the...errr...bottom?

Cam, they put you in the right place. By putting the edge of the speaker past the edge of the shelf you eliminate that fast reflection of the tweeter off the horizontal surface of the shelf. I had the set up briefly, and it was muddy and hard to understand dialogue.
