Hi Guys,

This afternoon, my cousin pulled the trigger on a new Axiom Epic 80 system (actually, he only supplied the credit card, I did all the typing / clicking :-). On my recommendation, he purchased a pair of M80s, VP150, 2 QS8 with Axiom Stands and an EP500.

I also took the opportunity to procure the EP500 sub for myself to complement my existing system.

We purchased all of the required cables from BlueJeansCables, which I know are excellent since my system is wired with their cables.

The speakers will be driven by an Onkyo TX-NR807 receiver which was ordered just last week.

All in all a very good Audio Day !!

Now, we wait until all of the stuff comes in.. then I go to work installing and configurating it all.. Fun times ahead !

Of course I will take some before and after pictures and post them here after I am done.

Looking foward to hearing the M80s for the very first time !.

Cheers,

Stephane

I'm looking forward to the comparison Rick.. I wil post my observations once I have a good listen to the M80s.

I think they will be comparable, but probably slightly different in overall tone.. as an example, the Energys have a slightly more pronounced mid range than other speakers I've listened to, so the two speakers will sound different even if they are both very capable and excellent products.

This is the first time I recommended a purchase of speakers
" sight unseen " based only on what I read here in this forum !! I have never heard the M80s or the VP150 or the EP500.. and I did not hear my QS8s before I purchased them either.. but I am convinced that we will not be disappointed.

Cheers

You can have every confidence that they will astound you and your cousin, I'm quiet sure. Make sure you nail stuff down if you crank the EP500.

With great power comes Awesome irresponsibility.

This is what I told him:
1. You will be blown away by the sub
2. Your 13 year old son will be blown away by the sub
3. Your wife will ask why you purchased a new coffee table !!

They are here.. My cousin was not home when purolator came this morning, so we picked up all of the boxes at the depot just an hour ago. So, he's got his pair of M80s, pair of QS8s with FMS, VP150 and an EP500 (BIG BOX !! wholy !! ) All in Cherry vinyl.

And I've got my EP500 in black vinyl.

I will be spending some Quality Time with my new sub over the next few days.

As for my cousin, we are just waiting on the Onkyo to come in and the BJC to be delivered.

Woo Hoo !!

Will take some pictures on installation day.. Which should be in a few weeks.

Cheers all

Steph

Remember....when you lift your sub, to bend at the knees to avoid backstrain.....

Ya I have a feeling I won't be moving this beast around as easily as I have been with my 110W 10" Energy sub. But, I've already done the sub crawl and determined the best place for my sub.. so the EP500 will go in the exact same spot as the Energy is currently, and then I'll move the Energy up front next to my left main speaker. I'm really hoping that having both subs will produce more even and natural bass than one sub on it's own.

Will share my experience when I get to it.. probably this weekend

Hopefully your energy sub has enough power to actually help out, my old sub didn't make a dent in the readings when i ran it with my PB13, then again it was a relatively small space and the PB13 is a beast.

Hi Jay, That 10" Energy has kept up with everything I've throwned at it in the last 10 years..but I was always afraid that I was sometimes pushing it to hard, it delivered without any distortion etc..but I felt like sometimes I was pushing my luck.. with the EP500.. I know it can take a LOT more punishement that I can dish out..

I will see.. never had 2 subs before.. I'm going to get the EP500 going first, then add the energy.. if it adds nothing at all to the overall sound.. then I will find another use for it.

I understood from some reviews I read last year that both Energy and it's sibling Mirage Subs were overachievers for their size and power.
