Here's a fun fact: my temp normally runs 96.9. I hated when my mom tried to use a digital thermometer on me when she thought I looked sick but wasn't. It would never beep, waiting for a minimum reading of 98.something. So I'd sit there for 15 minutes with the thing in my mouth. Finally we figured it out, and she'd only make me sit for 5 minutes. You know what the difference is between an oral and a rectal thermometer is? . . . . . The taste.
