Finally pulled the trigger and ordered my Axioms! Thanks to the board for your feedback on my earlier post and special thanks to Amie for her help with color choices. Here's what I ended up with...
  • 2 M22s in eggshell with white grilles
  • 2 QS8s in eggshell with white grilles
  • 1 VP150 in classic oak with black grille
  • 2 FMBs in white

I got the white so they will be less noticeable on the walls. The VP150 will be inside the oak wall unit with the TV.

All this will be paired with a new Onkyo TX-NR801 and an HSU STF-2. Both of these arrive this week which is going to make the wait for custom speakers torturous!

Can someone confirm that the VP150 doesn't need much space around it (top/bottom/left/right)?

Thanks again!
Michael

No extra space required. You might need to set it at an angle to better aim the center at your viewing position.

My EC has a shelf above it for a VCR. Since I'm in a wheelchair and have a small son, we made another shelf/stand under the TV. (See it here.)

We're going to make one a bit smaller and one larger to accomodate the VP150. Not sure yet, but it'll probably go under the TV.

we have a sony plasma which has it's own stand, and the bride wants the speaker above the display. so, i'll be looking for hardware to mount it from the underside of the top of the ent. center. one of the guys here provided me with a link for brackets, but after phoning the company, they turned out to be wall mount brackets, and unsuitable. after the holiday crowds are history, i'll be hitting the hardware stores.
thanks,
happy holidays,
dan

Dan--

I had to mount my VP150 under the shelf of our entertainment center as well. The Axiom FMB worked perfectly for that configuration. Any particular reason you're not looking at that option?

Take care, and happy holidays.

rich, did you use one bracket? no doubt secured to the rear of the vp150, and you drilled holes thru the top to mount the bracket inside? is it visible while looking at the front of the speaker?

Yep, one FMB attached to the back of the speaker (yes, I drilled holes much to my dismay, but after asking Amie et al for advice)and to the bottom of the cross-piece/shelf. THe shelf is about 1.5" thick, so I was able to screw the bracket in using 1" screws. I was able to get a very tight & snug fit so that the bracket was completely invisible.

Email me if you want some more info/details. I would send you a photo, but I've since changed things around after I got my 42" Sony.

Take care,
Rich

Oooh, I didn't realize the FMB would work upside down. That might be nicer!

Thanks!
