John, I've never seen or heard a voice-controlled wheelchairs(they use the technology for all kinds of the assistive devices around the house), but I would assume they would be difficult to operate in a noisy environment. The most advanced technology I have seen for controlling a wheelchair is called "sip and puff". High level injury quadriplegics (just slightly over my level) use it because they cannot move their head to control their wheelchair. Christopher Reeve (whom I had the pleasure to meet) controlled his wheelchair this way; it's similar to a "call bell" that I used in the hospital when I had no mobility.

Mark, I was wondering the same, but considering the source (Canadian Paraplegic Association), I highly doubt that would be the case.

You guys are too funny, I have enough silly things go on when I'm drinking and can only imagine what would happen if I had this setup!

I suspect it would result in wheeled dance moves that could bring Michael Jackson back from the grave. That or the inability to stop chasing after the hottest girl in the bar. Hopefully, the brain controlled versions come with a kill switch.

Ha ha! Funny stuff you two! \:D

Chris, a kill switch for my brain would be a good thing. I wish I had this technology the night I went to the strip club and got rather intoxicated with some friends, and when we left the side entrance, I ended up falling forward with my hand pressed against the remote of my wheelchair, causing me to drive full speed into a wooden fence and cutting my head open in the process. My brain was thinking stop, stop, but I couldn't move my arm \:\) .

Pretty funny!

Ha, I have had similar experiences when drinking moonshine.

Hint: Always drink shine standing up. If you sit in one place and drink large amounts of it, it has the rather unique quality of fooling you into thinking that you are still pretty clear headed, that is until you stand up. Then you realize you have lost almost all useful motor control. The clear headed piece goes almost immediately after falling down and thus quickening your heart rate.

I thought you guys called it "Screech" out East, Murph?

Nope. Screech is strictly a Newfoundland thing. It's similar to shine in that it is mainly Molasses and water that is fermented, distilled and aged but it is now an actual manufactured product and can be purchased legally there.

Shine comes in many family recipes that all involve molasses and water but also various combinations of sugar and a vegetable mash. It's more 'stilled' than distilled, it's never aged and it definitely is not legal.

I was told the following day that I did the exact same thing at my best friend's wedding a couple weeks ago. He told me that he was getting ready to take Julia's garter off while she sat in a chair in the middle of the dance floor, and apparently I drove right across the dance floor into the chair and pushed Julia right across the room.

That's what happens when you drink an entire bottle of wine yourself (and I never drink wine).

Here I am in all my glory-

ie. same thing with sake. The first time I drank warm sake in a tea house, I stood up and fell over.

One Tequila Two tequila, Three Tequila Floor.

Vodka Same thing.

Jack Daniels however, not the same effect. I might become an A'hole, but at least I don't end up face planting the floor.
