I have the m60s, vp150, and qs8s. The qs8s are 6 ohm speakers. Right now I have my receiver set to 8 ohms. Should I put the qs8s on the "B" speakers and set it to 6 ohms? If I keep them set at 8 ohms with the other speakers will this damage something? Thanks in advance.

jfoxtrot, I can't answer this, but several here can - but they'll want to know what kind of receiver you're running. Apparently 6 ohms is not a problem for most -- it's 4 ohms that can suck power and bring on automated power dampening mechanisms (usually when you use the switch on the back). Some receivers are supposedly better than others however at handling the lower ohm loads.

The 8 ohms setting is fine, you should have no problems at all.

Jeff, the 1400 should have no problem set at 8 ohms, and of course the QS8s have to be connected to the surround output terminals.

As JohnK and FordPerfect have already said, your 1400 should have no problem with 6 or even 4 ohm speakers. I have used my 2400 with the impedance set to 8 ohm to drive 4 ohm Magnepans without any problems.

If you are still uncomfortable with it, go to www.audioholics.com and do a site search with the word "impedance". Lots of other great advice on that site as well.

Thanks guys, much appreciated. It's amazing what I've learned in the last few weeks about all this.
